Was Lambert's AMA Romp Too Much? Adam Lambert certainly knows how to get people talking. His AMA performance could have just been his post-'Idol' breakout show, but instead it's become one of those "did he take it too far?" moments of awards show folklore that has everyone taking sides
Watch the Video Here! http://www.popeater.com/2...rformance/ Going to church doesn’t make you a Christian, any more than standing in a garage makes you a car.

The YouTube video has been pulled, but I got this link from AOL: http://www.popeater.com/2...rt-amas%2F "Love Hurts. Your lies, they cut me. Now your words don't mean a thing. I don't give a damn if you ever loved me..." -Cher, "Woman's World"

It was pure shock value whoring. Desperate to a lot yes but fuck it, I thought it was cheap and awesome to see a dude's face in his crotch. It's about time.

In the AMA thread, you said he had balls to do that, I thought "That guy who was dancing with him definitely knows that, they were right there on his upper lip" "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. And we call them genius, because they are the people who change the world."

I haven't seen the video (and don't really want to) but the pics I saw of the shocking moments don't seem any different from what Madonna does, except that he's a man, and people would apparently rather watch two women kiss than two men--I certainly would. My Legacy

As long as a woman is the submissive sex object, right?

But what he did and what Madonna loves to do are basically without substance, they are just "provocative for its own sake."
Madonna uses crosses to seem deep, but it's all flash. I feel the same about Adam. His singing is good, technically, but I hate his style, and there doesn't seem to be anything behind it. My Legacy

So, um....what is Lambert famous for again? Don't people know that American Idol is really just one big karaoke contest? ;confuse: "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"

I think Prince should get credit for doing the guy-on-guy BJ simulation on the AMAs long before this. Back in '95, he was kneeling in front of Tommy Barbarella's...instrument in a way that definitely brought a BJ to mind.
Also, Adam Lambert is a screeching freak.

As long as a woman is the submissive sex object, right? I think it's more that a woman's homoeroticism is sexier to the mainstream public than a man's. I could see Madonna could pulling a man (or woman) into her crotch. My Legacy

Watch the Video Here! http://www.popeater.com/2...rformance/ No, it was not too much. MJ kissing LIsa Marrie--now that was way way way more than the world needed to see. Folks wouldn't even be talking about it if a male and a female kissed. So I have no sympathies for those offended by this.

Gay men obviously aren't going to get a lot out of girl-on-girl, most women are straight, and lesbians and bi women usually don't go for faux-lesbianism because it's so obviously performed for men. I'd also say that I believe straight women are not as into seeing two men kiss as straight men are into seeing two women kiss. IMO you'd be mistaken. Maybe the whitebread, middle-America crowd of straight women wouldn't, but millions of straight women LOVE watching two or more guys get their freak on. You never wondered why tv shows like Queer As Folk had a mostly straight female audience, or why so much manga/anime aimed at young women has gay male love stories? Or for that matter, why "slash' fan fiction, a genre largely written by hetero women, exists? Answer: for the man lovin'. "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"

I'm sure you're right, but maybe I should have simply said I believe a greater number of straight men like to see women kiss than straight women like to see men kiss. that's why we see more of women kissing than men in mainstream media (which is mainstream because it's the biggest numbers) [Edited 11/23/09 16:20pm] My Legacy
