Anybody else snowed in?

Good ol' Ma Nature dumped 17" of snow on my house last night.

Coming home from rehearsal around 10:30, I actually got stuck in my own driveway. And that was before the thundersnow!

It's nice to have a snow day and all...but we have our final tech rehearsal tonight. (Show opens Friday.) I have no idea how I'm going to get there. There ain't a chance in hell my street's going to be plowed (and my driveway shoveled out) by 4:00.

I'm supposed to be working from home...but I think this is mainly going to be a napping day.

I wish.

Even with ridiculous amounts of sudden snow, nothing gets cancelled around these parts. My son is in school and I'm at work.

sad

I really hate winter.

Hell no I bust out the XC90 at 4 in the morning and drove my partner to work. Hauled ass all the way there and back. It was fun.

We might get 8" by this afternoon total, but 17" is crazy flakes.

Downtown Mpls isn’t bad, actually.
I’m pretty lucky in that I live in a condo and don’t own a car, so no shoveling and no driving for me. I walked out my door and onto a waiting bus to get to work. The sidewalks had been shoveled already too, though it’s still snowing and there were some light drifts.
The skyways will keep me safe and warm as I go about my day (I’m planning to go buy some winter boots on my lunch as I threw mine out last year and haven’t picked up a new pair yet). LOTS of my coworkers are working from home today, though. Which makes it nice and quiet here and I’ll actually be able to get stuff done. smile

The buses aren't even running here. They shut down the university - and all non-essential city and state services. That almost never happens.

If your streets aren't plowed, is there anything you can even do? Cars simply don't travel over 17 inches of snow. It's just not feasible.

I'm thinking I might have to call a cab to meet me someplace that's been plowed - and walk there. shrug

Everything should be open by the time rehearsal lets out at 10:30. If I can just get to the theater, one of my castmates who lives out here can drive me home.

Holy crap 17 inches!!! We're having a storm right now but it only dumped about 2 inches on the morning commute. That's enough to make my 4 mile drive into work an hour long. sigh

There are cautious drivers, and then there are just ridiculous drivers that are so scared of the snow they can't drive. Just stay home dammit!

I love snow days! We're getting lots of rain here in NYC, and it's awesome. I'm a huge fan of inclement weather.

I've never witnessed a thundersnow and I'm very jealous of you for that.

I survived and it really wasn't all that bad (I thought anyway). I don't even have snow tires on yet. I might not even bother getting some this year.

I still hate winter though.
