It varies from painting to painting but it's always about positivity or sometimes humor even. I don't like to paint anything that is somber or evokes sadness. Second, and the most important that i try to convey a sort of aesthetic that is influence with flower imagery and our modern world, a sorta of romantic idea of roses and the future..maybe a single rose that grows amongst the decadence..i can't show my work yet because it is still in the working period.

I really look forward to seeing it when it's ready. I definitely aim for evoking emotion (more so with the Latin Pop work). Just not dark emotion (though your description of rose growing in a future setting (did you mean decadence or decay?) sounds like it's about rebirth and the perseverance of beauty rather than darkness. I'm more about celebration, rebirth, strength...along those lines. I've dealt with enough darkness in real life to also want to pass that on through my work. I recognize the importance of such work and can totally appreciate it...it just doesn't come out of me or fits into my personal goal. If that makes any sense at all. [Edited 11/24/09 14:47pm]
