You know Lautner is, like, 12 or something? No really, I know he's not 12. But he is young as hell. [Edited 11/21/09 22:49pm] yep, he is young enough to be my .....younger brother he has grown up from Sharkboy and lavagirl, thats for sure seems that i was busy doing something close to nothing, but different than the day before

I'm SOOOO not a Twilight fan , but I have to say, aside from really poor pacing, the movie wasn't so terrible. And being there with a theatre full of squeally, excited girls, a bunch of cougars, and their boyfriends who heckled the screen was actually a lot of fun. [Edited 11/21/09 17:04pm] I had a ball seeing it last night. Between the sqeals, hooting and the all-out laughter at the cheesiness, it was a really fun crowd to see it with, girls, gays and a handful of confused-looking straight boyfriends. The whole Twilight thing is a total guilty pleasure of mine. It's absolute crap. I fully admit and recognize that. But I still like it. that is my take as well. haven't seen new moon yet, i can wait. just reading breaking dawn at the moment. such easy books to read.

Final U.S. weekend gross was $140 million.
From the NY Daily News: 'New Moon' wolfs down $140.7 million in the box office opening weekend
By Jane H. Furse Daily News writer Originally Published:Sunday, November 22nd 2009, 1:54 PM Updated: Sunday, November 22nd 2009, 7:52 PM The latest smash hit in the "Twilight" vampire series drove a stake through the heart of its box office competition, scaring up Hollywood's third-biggest opening weekend of all time. "The Twilight Saga: New Moon" played on the teenage thirst for romance, hunky vampires and werewolves to score an estimated $140.7 million over its debut weekend. "New Moon" came in just behind all-time leader "The Dark Knight," the Batman sequel that earned $158 million on its opening weekend and "Spider-Man 3," the second-biggest opener with $151 million. The vampire flick eclipsed the previous third-place opener, "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest," which earned $136 million. Opening day for "New Moon" even sucked in $70 million in sales, more than "The Dark Knight," which opened with $67 million. The sequel revisits the dangerous romance between high school student Bella Swan, played by Kristen Stewart, and lovelorn vampire Edward Cullen, played by Robert Pattinson. The couple's breakup in "New Moon" leads to a love triangle with Bella, Edward and a werewolf character. Stewart and Pattinson have become sex symbols whose real-life romance had young female fans lining up outside theaters. "You know that everyone is crazy for Edward Cullen," said Rehana Hoque, 19, a City College student from Jamaica, Queens. "The theater is already packed with teenagers and moms and families." Nayan Sharma, 32, a fashion designer who lives in Manhattan, said the magnetism between the lead actors will lure to her to the sequel. "I really like the vampire," Sharma said. "I like the chemistry between him and Bella, so I'm going to see what happens next." With "New Moon" running away with the box office crown, a football drama starring Sandra Bullock, "The Blind Side," was No.2 at the box office. It earned $34.5 million and also drew mostly female fans to the real-life story of Baltimore Ravens tackle Michael Oher. Young males are the backbone of Hollywood business, so it's unusual for two flicks aimed at women to lead the list. "To have two movies with huge appeal for women result in the second-biggest nonholiday weekend ever is amazing," said Paul Dergarabedian, box-office analyst for Hollywood.com. Last weekend's top movie, "2012," slipped to third place with $26.5 million. Another new release, the animated feature "Planet 51," was No. 4 with $12.6 million. Iam so out of touch. I have heard of this movie series, but know nothing about it really. Oh well, "Dark knight" was so hyped that it was no surprise to me that it was merely very good, and not fantastic. And whats with all these new movies breaking new records all the time?

New Moon Eclipses Dark Knight!
Today 12:10 PM PST by Joal Ryan As a PG-rated Robin might cry, "Holy crap, Batman!" New Moon smashed The Dark Knight's single-day and opening-day box-office records with an estimated $72.7 million Friday, its studio reported today. If the movie's unprecedented midnight business was "absolutely freakish," then its unprecedented full-day take was simply phenomenal. "It doubled the opening day of the first movieāand Twilight was no slouch itself," Box Office Mojo's Brandon Gray said. "It's just sensational." With New Moon having already eclipsed its $50 million budget, two of Dark Knight's showiest records, and Twilight's entire opening-weekend gross, about the only question left is: How high can this thing go? Batman, for one, will be happy to learn that New Moon probably won't beat Dark Knight's ultimate speed record: the 2008 film's $158.4 million opening weekend. Gray guessed New Moon will end up with a $140 million Friday-Sunday. At this point, though, it's dangerous to guess what the movie might, or might not, do next. Earlier in the week, the wolf-enhanced vampire adventure was expected to score a big $80 million opening weekend. Then a bigger $100 million looked more like it. By yesterday, after its $26.3 million midnight record, Exhibitor Relations was calling for a gigantic $125 million-$130 million. http://www.eonline.com/ub...night.html The lesson here must be: never underestimate the power of 13-year-old girls. now that right there is a market that has been largely ignored until only very recently if you think about it, most blockbusters have been made with 16 year old boys in mind - that's where all the money is going.

The Tweens of yesteryear are turning into young teens? Heck, Iam no marketing man, but ? In the 80's alot of those silly boys movies like "Porkies" "national lamoon" and those boys club (teens/early 20's) slasher movies like "nightmare on elm street" got replaced by the late 80's more sophisticated movies for people in their 30's and up ("Golden girls (tv)" "driving miss daisy" "beaches") etc... so the audience for popular movies do change...sort of. OK, its not that simple, but demographics do change I guess? Nintendo marketing their DS and Wii consoles to "non gamers" and more shockinly: WOMEN! Heck it worked!
