We love the holidays! This was one of 4 we had in the house last year. This one was 16 ft, I believe. The lion held a stocking in his mouth.

I'm decorating next weekend...
Hopefully this thread will still have some life by then! I just moved in here at the beginning of the year- my own home! 
I can't wait! I got my tree the other day (can't have real- allergies!  ), and I've been buying decorations all month.
I have a bay window, so I'm putting the tree right in front of it! My colors are going to be gold and white lights...

Ok, so normally I don't really decorate until Thanksgiving weekend. However, this year I'm hosting a par-tay on the 5th, for which I will be cooking (and I'm sure obsessively cleaning) the week before. So I started yesterday. One tree down, 2 to go. 
This tree is in our living room: I spent this morning cleaning feathers, as at the last minute I decided to cut up a feather boa and stick the pieces into the tree. THANK GAWD I had a feather boa laying around. 
 Absolutely Stunning Feathers are all the rage this year in the floral industry...

The young ppl we share life with typically have horrific holiday memories and experiences... so I try and let them have fun since they don't have to duck fists and bottles any longer. They found every moving/animated globe-y thing and loaded the tree up! Those things are LOUD! | |

About 2 years ago I had my last real one and realized, all this work, I want to enjoy it for a long time without branches drooping by Xmas/New Years. The drawing...hubby loves Marilyn. It was done by a German artist. | |

My tree that took me the whole of Australian Idol final to put together, plus the hour before that started 
It's got no real theme or anything  and looks kind of unco-ordinated
but I really like it a LOT more than my old tree, that I will give to my sister who decided she's not forking out $50-$80 for a real tree each year any more. 
Last night when I had finally finished. The kids idea of helping was throwing ornaments onto it to see if they stuck (I didn't let them do that with my precious favourite ornaments  )
