They look novel now, but in about 40-50 years, we'll look back (as we do now on colored aluminum trees from the 1950s) and be like WTH!?! I'm a green or white tree guy, I guess. My friends, who are graphic designers, have a white aluminum tree. I'm not sure if it's vintage, but knowing them it probably is. It fits perfectly next to their Eames credenza and 50s diner-style table. Let me see if I can find a photo on their blog.... BBL. oh Christ. now i really have to hide this from the wife... everyone's a fruit & nut case

Here is the link to the post where they asked people/friends to send in photos of their trees. Sheri & Marc's is the "MSLK tree" - 2nd photo; or for those too lazy to click: Sheri is especially pround of the red felt letter ornaments in different designer typefaces. . [Edited 11/21/09 18:20pm] The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

A friend and I went browsing at a retro store a few years ago, and we came across a vintage aluminum tree, mint condition, from the 1950s. It was uncolored -- so just that steely, metallic tone -- but it came with an uplight with a motorized multicolored filter! Total acid trip! I thought it might have been really cool in a store or, say, a club. But I could never bring that thing home. [Edited 11/22/09 3:01am] Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου

If you're gonna go fake, I think TOTALLY fake is the way to go. I like the black one. That would look REAL cute in my new place with all pink and lime green decorations. My family is in the Xmas tree business. My grandfather started it, my uncle has continued and I believe one his sons will continue it eventually. My brother and cousins and my cousins' kids helps out with the business every year. Which makes me a firm believer in getting a real tree. I love them. Of course, my current tree looks like this (old pic, though): I have that box set. I love it. a psychotic is someone who just figured out what's going on
