Those are really neat, Mach!
If you're gonna go fake, I think TOTALLY fake is the way to go. I like the black one. My family is in the Xmas tree business. My grandfather started it, my uncle has continued and I believe one his sons will continue it eventually. My brother and cousins and my cousins' kids helps out with the business every year. Which makes me a firm believer in getting a real tree. I love them. Of course, my current tree looks like this (old pic, though): ![]() |

Unless your entire decor is quirky enough to support this sort of thing, I.kinda.hate.these. They look novel now, but in about 40-50 years, we'll look back (as we do now on colored aluminum trees from the 1950s) and be like WTH!?! I'm a green or white tree guy, I guess. Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου

We have a traditional, and then a white. The white changes theme/color every year.
Oh and then there's Betina's tree. It's pink. We're having a party on the 5th so I've started decorating to be done in time. Did the white one last night. Assembling the traditional one today.

The blue one is awesome. When I was a wee young'un, my mom got a flocked tree and only allowed blue lights and blue ornaments on it. My 10-year-old gay eyes thought it was just about the pertiest thing they'd ever seen. I don't put up a tree now as an adult, but the one time I did, I did the flocked-and-blue tree.
So anyway, yeah, I'd be all over that blue one if I were going to get a tree.

This is why we opt for a white one that we can change off to any color scheme (black and white this year). As a "main" tree it's too color committed.

These have been around for a long time. I almost bought a chocolate brown one a few years ago but decided that I'd stick with natural-looking with chocolate brown decor.

Mine will. I like a bold use of color, what can I say? Currently my walls are white, grey and lime green (only one wall is lime green). With black pillars and one looooong black wall in my hall. Sealed concrete floor (so a steel-y grey). My couches are black with a pink blanket and a lime green ottoman. My bookshelves are black and white. My kitchen table is black with a red lip around, the chairs are black with red seats and a red back. My computer desk and an end table are baby pink. And I love that the tree will look "dated" in old photographs at some point. I love looking at old photos that have all the hallmarks of that time period. |

They look novel now, but in about 40-50 years, we'll look back (as we do now on colored aluminum trees from the 1950s) and be like WTH!?! I'm a green or white tree guy, I guess. My friends, who are graphic designers, have a white aluminum tree. I'm not sure if it's vintage, but knowing them it probably is. It fits perfectly next to their Eames credenza and 50s diner-style table. Let me see if I can find a photo on their blog.... BBL. The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.
