my grandmother and I had a pretty tense relationship, especially just before she died...a lot of that was due to my fathers (her son) behavior that led to his death, which she refused to admit or believe...he was a less than upstanding citizen and also had anger issues...those along with some of his other issues are the reason he was killed - not murdered...shot and killed before he could kill my mother and myself ( I was an infant at the time)

she would constantly tell me, "You remind me so much of your father, he would have loved you." she knew that it made me uncomfortable to hear that...over & over

I was in the chinese restaurant yesterday and these two white women walk in. One ask the guy if they sold Snapple ice tea. He said "No, but we have homemade ice tea". So she tell the other woman that she's not sure if she should get it because she doesn't know how it taste. So she asked me. I told her it was good. She says "Is it so so or is it good?". Now I love it so I tell her "It's really really good" Then she looks at me and says "Does that mean it has a lot of sugar in it, like kool-aid?"

The summer before my freshman year of college, my college offered a "preparatory" summer session for all new minorities entering the college. For some people this session was voluntary. For some the college forced them to go. The college had set up a meeting with the chief of campus police, who was white.

He started off his warm welcome to the new minorities of the campus by saying: "You know I'm not much different from you people. I grew up poor, without shoes, and raised by a single mother."

After that comment was said, I could just look around the room and see 50 people just ready to kick some ass.
