* She's a good role model for my daughter, which supports me because making sure my daughter becomes a decent, complete woman is also a goal of mine. * She feeds me -- 'cause I can't cook worth a darn. 
* She critically engages me, so that I can know when I'm full of sh*t, being a wimp or a bully in some part of my life, misunderstanding an issue, or really insightful or enlightened about something. * In a certain way, she appeals to my "I told you so" self-efficacy. We argue over decoration, for example, but I'm a bastard enough to go ahead and do what I want -- painting, getting rid of old furniture, even knocking down walls -- when she's not around  .
