A Highland Park teenager was shot to death execution style after he confessed to inappropriately touching his 3-year-old half sister. Detroit police say Jamar Pinkney Sr. barged into Jamar Pinkney Jr.’s home, where he lived with his mother, and beat the boy before ordering him to strip naked. He then led the frightened 15-year-old out into a field where he shot him to death.

Lazette Cherry, Jamar’s mother said she was only trying to teach her son discipline when she called his father and told him what the boy had done. “I called and told his father this isn’t something you sweep under the rug,” Cherry said Wednesday.

Pinkney Sr., who was separated from Cherry and lived with the 3-year-old and her mother, rushed to the home with a gun.

“He started beating him right here,” Cherry said from her living room. “I said, ‘No, please stop!’ “ She said Pinkney Sr. marched the boy naked out of the house — in full view of neighbors — and ordered him on his knees.

“He got on his knees and begged, ‘No, Daddy! No!’ and he pulled the trigger,” Cherry said from her home on North Street in Highland Park. “There wasn’t nothing that my son wouldn’t do for his father. He loved his father so much.”

Jamar was shot once in the back of the head. Pinkney then calmly drove away. He was arrested 3 hours later and charged with one count of first-degree murder, three counts of felonious assault and one count of felony firearm.

Cherry said the 3-year-old’s mother took the girl to a hospital to be examined Sunday. She said Jamar told her he never raped the child and kept his clothes on.

A physical exam showed no evidence of sexual trauma.

Pinkney is being held without bond.

Where I can understand that reaction. I get it. If I had a child and someone...I would hope the cops got to him first. I have no idea what I might do. (what was that movie with Samuel L Jackson?)

If I did I would be doing so KNOWING I will have to face a consequence.

I can understand that reaction had it been a stranger, but considering how young he was and the fact that he told his mother what he did makes me think he was crying out for help.

I just had a thought. What if the Dad was trying to cover up something?

maybe the son had been touched and the dad knew and was worried that the son would tell?

by he would know, it is when they are like 5 or 6. That was taught. If I knew a kid that played piano at 7 years old I would assume he had lessons. Same with a child that young that is acting out sexually.

Why the hell did mom not call the police BEFORE her son was led out the house to be shot?

Um, if my son were to tell me he touched his little sister, the last thing I would do is call her daddy....
I would call the police to take my son away... I would do it in a way were my son, his father or the neighbors would not know that the police were coming. Just get my girl to a Dr. and hold son in a jail cell until all could be figured out.

So very sad.

Police should have been called at some point. I found out a very close relative had been doing something like this for 10 years. I called the police before the week was up. They went to jail for a couple of years, and it strained our relationship, but I don't regret turning someone in.

Even if he was my father.

How incredibly sad. Erin is right, almost always the abusers were abused. He was 15, not a grown man. Probably struggling his way through his existence. God rest his soul and help everyone involved to find healing through this very tragic situation.

Why strip him naked?
