Ireland v France

i don't know how many of ye saw this game last night, but i am gutted by the outcome.

i had so much respect for Thierry Henry as a player before last night. typical FIFA bs. if it was us who had scored that goal there would be a replay no question.

i was on numerous French sports sites yesterday, most all of them admit it's a total sham and many of them wish for a replay in the spirit of fairness.

will never happen, though.

unfortunatly not. makes a complete joke of fair play. i would hate to progress in a competition like this. they will have no luck for it.

Henry has always been a sly little fucker, although admittedly never as obvious in a game of such magnitude.

Until such times as video evidence is introduced, or there are actual penalties for players caught blatantly cheating to gain an advantage, then the argument will continue.

That said, I'm Scottish, so you can join me in disappointment.

well it should have been just a regular draw, and take you chances with who you get. the seeding was just FIFA trying to make sure the big boys got through. didn't work for Russia though.

Can Ireland get a replay of the match like they're asking for? Is that ever done?

I don't know much about futball, but Henry is getting raked over the coals today.

Ireland deserves a replay and Henry should be suspended for the whole world cup

deservedly so. he is a so called professional footballer. they are trained NOT to use their hands. it was cheating fair and simple and he should be penalised. there was a match replayed a few years ago but i don't know the countries or the back ground to it.

even before the hand balls there were two french players off-side. linesmen and ref should all be suspended as well. they just wanted the french to score no matter what. and it took cheating to get one past us.

exactly. anything could happen in PKs. the refs saw a chance to make sure the big boys went through and they took it.

i don't think France will do anything in the WC. their coach is an idiot. Trap, on the other hand, is a genius and i would have liked to see what he could do in the WC.

Best attitude to take at this point, if it goes to a replay I'll eat my hat. Although I'd need to buy a hat first. Do you get chocolate hats? hmmm

Anyway, I know how you feel. I would have loved to have seen the Republic there, give me someone to support in Scotland's absence. sad

Although now I have two I'll be rooting against! cool

Of course not - What self-respecting 'manc' supports United?
