I find it a little hilarious that Netflix likes to recommend movies to me that are “critically acclaimed gritty dramas”, “tv shows featuring a strong female lead”, “dark independent movies” and “quirky foreign comedies”.

I think I've had a list of "critically acclaimed 80's movies" too.



What genres does netflix suggest for you?

I get foreign films, independant films, critically acclaimed. Because I use my netflix for those.

I have a huge love/hate thing with Netflix. Huge. I'm not even sure what they recommend for me at this point, because I haven't gone to the site in a while. I have nearly 500 movies in my queue, and I decided I need to get that number way down before I start adding more.

I don't take suggestions well

I love netflix but I hate how they're organized. I think they purposely hide the new releases from me so I'll rent old & unpopular stuff.

Didn't they recently have some sort of contest where they offered programmers $1 million to redesign their site? I believe this was what they were going for, a better way to get people the movies they might like (or think they might like).
