In my case, it was difficult to wash. The skin was too tight. I would've loved to have kept it. It really was not cosmetic in my case.

Everyone has a right to their own opinions.....

This is not a matter of opinion. Mutilation of a child should not be a right we are entitled to. Is genital mutilation in girls a right we should all have as well and is just a matter of opinion?

I understand that it was common practice in the past mainly due to misinformation and I've actually only ever been with guys that are cut and like the way it looks but come on, mutilation is mutilation.

Everyone has a right to their own opinions, yes...but having the right to be able to act out on things based on their entitled opinion is another thing.

I agree with this.
I don't think mutilation of a child is justified based on misinformed beliefs of hygenic considerations.

70% or more of the world does not engage in this practice and their penises are not falling off. There *are* studies out that it reduces the risk of HIV infection by 60% or more, but even then--wear a damned condom, no?

ok, I understand that this topic can sometimes get heated.

But I want to stress this is not about the merits of circumcision--this is about 'foreskin envy'.

Those of you who are cut, do you sometimes want foreskin?

(those of you who are U/C--do U sometimes wonder about being cut?)

How about waiting for the person who is attached to the penis decide what they want to do with their bodies?

My guess is that people who are for it are people who have done it to their sons already. Back in the day it was pushed on you so I don't blame people for doing it. Hell, my mom did it to my oldest brother...do I think any less of her for being told to do it by a doctor? No.

But to believe in it now knowing all the myths is scary, very very scary. People oppose child abuse and female genital mutilation but condone this.

Scary.

before i start talking about that! i want to say something
wouldn't it be funny/cool if we can glide with our foreskin like sugar gliders?

i wonder what it would like to be cut that is. but the process seems real painful do they put nova caine on my cock?

nod

Personally, if I had been uncut, I would probably have it done once I turned 18.
I just like being cut.

But, the idea that I would impose such an invasive, painful, and permanent procedure on another person just seems barbaric.

I wouldn't dock the tail on a dog--why cut someone's penis?

That being said, I still think it should be covered in insurance due to issues of phimosis and other things (which of course the doctor would need to make a recommendation on anyways).

Didn´t Bill Clinton recommend circumsion two or three years ago during some sort of convention? He said it didn´t necessarily prevent HIV but it helps to be circumcized because the chances of contraction HIV are supposedly much lower then because there are less "fluids" involved.

Sounds like Bill! But yeah I would think it could be a risk factor. As the skin would hold more of the materials than would a circumcised penis. Once again a bit of soap and water would seem to wash away any lingering virus.

Wrong.

Yes it's a risk factor.
Washing away any lingering virus? . . . .

using a condom would certainly help, cut or uncut. who takes the risk and hopes their foreskin will protect them? eek

Only because I've thought it'd be cool to be as pristine as the day I was born (which is impossible anyway rolleyes), I've occasionally also thought it might be cool to be uncut.

At the end of the day, though, while I'm not an advocate for circumcision unless it is medically prescribed, I don't mind not having mine. I'm used to the look, and foreskins are a bit... um... "logistically awkward." confused

Like I said..it's a matter of opinion...and everyone has a right to think what they want. If it's your son..then do what is best for your son, but dont think ill of parents who decide otherwise.

I have to say I have very strong opinion on this that circumcision should be illegal. It is genital mutilation to do this to someone against their will.

You should wonder, it was yours, and because of medical ignorance and/or "acceptable" religious practices it was taken away.

It disgusts me that this practice still continues.
