Non-alcoholic beer... yay or nay? Do you drink it? Would you drink it? If not, why not? Is taste or lack of getting inebriated the stumbling block?
Last Xmas my father had lots of these stocked up in the garage and recommended it to me. I have to say it tastes pretty good and for a while ( ) I drank these rather than regular beer and rather enjoyed them. Cobra Zero: So what do you think? if its the effects your after.. hell no!!! It tastes pretty good, so when I just had that craving for a few nice, cool beers, it did the trick. I'd have a couple of an afternoon or evening and it was really rather pleasant. I didn't feel like anything was missing in the beginning. However, the longer I stayed in the UK and the more my Thailand-made habit of drinking quite frequently began to rear its ugly head the more I started drinking regular beer. By the time I came home I was probably drinking quite excessively. I don't know if the fact that coming to the UK I quit smoking cold turkey and then didn't smoke for 6 weeks had anything to do with the whole situation or not. Maybe non-alcoholic beer was easier for me to drink without getting a cigarette craving, I'm not sure. Honestly though I don't remember having a single craving after a few hours since leaving Bangkok and hanging around in transit in the smokey Abu Dhabi airport, so probably not. Used to buy it. I like the taste of a cold beer on a hot summer day, but don't like alcohol anymore.

Ex-Moderator | I'm not a big beer drinker and I'm very, very picky about the beers I do drink so I doubt I'd ever try one.
Maybe if there were a non-alcoholic wine... And before anyone says that's just grape juice, you're not even close. |

i'm in America. the beer here is piss-weak as it is, no need to water it down further. everyone's a fruit & nut case

I'll do nonalcoholic beer largely just because I can grab it anywhere on a whim here, while alcoholic beverages are only stocked at provincially licensed outlets. It does taste like darned-near tap water, but it's a way to avoid making a special stop when I'm out.
The intoxication factor is inconsequential as I've never been into getting drunk no matter what I'm drinking. [Edited 11/20/09 6:36am] Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου

I drink it all the time and there's no difference in taste between Becks and Becks no alcohol In my teens I did what you do and drank and spent far too many next-days with a hangover that I quit and didn't touch a drop....until I went to uni where I spent far too many...you get the picture. I drink alcohol now and again but I don't enjoy being drunk and I certainly don't enjoy alcohol more than I hate hangovers. Before anybody says drinking sensibly will prevent hangover, I'm afraid that ain't the case with me; I drink so little that 2 pints or 2 glasses of wine give me a splitting headache. So big thumbs up for me [Edited 11/19/09 7:02am]

It seems to have a strange aftertaste. Maybe kind of sweet?
I've only had a few of them, but I don't really want more. I'll take water, thank you. My Legacy

I don't drink anymore, but I love beer. So yay. I always have some near-beer in the fridge. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

you'd drink as much as I'd give you though I would drink it, sometimes I just don't want the sweetness of cola or fanta or whatever, and I just want that cold bubbly flavour like beer!

Hell naw, non-alcoholic beer defeats the purpose of drinking beer to begin with which is to get fucked up. I sure as hell don't drink it for the taste. If I want something for the taste, I'll drink a Coke. Andy is a four letter word.

See, I find that hard to understand. I would never drink something purely to get drunk. I like beer, otherwise I'd not drink it. It tastes great! MY COUSIN WORKS IN A PHARMACY AND SHE SAID THEY ENEMA'D PRANCE INTO OBLIVION WITH FENTONILS!!

you'd drink as much as I'd give you though Ah yes, but you dear, could give me cat piss and I'd drink it. Which I imagine wouldn't taste that much different than beer.

Non-alcoholic beer is banned in Scotland because it's unconstitutional.
