Not usually -

If I hand out my cash for something I have usually researched it and or need/want it to use/wear

I'm not into shopping nor spending $ on things that we wont use

now in my teens and 20s sure- i am sure i did sometimes

I generally hate accumulating things, but there's a few CD's and DVD's that I haven't watched.

This summer just gone, I bought the new Marilyn Manson album and a couple other albums while I was on tour in Canada with my band.

The promoters of our concerts gave us PDMs (per diems) which for those who don't know, is daily amounts of cash given to the artist for entertainment/food/etc. That's on top of the fees we receive for the performances. As many musicians have said in the past, PDMs usually end up being "drugs/booze/hooker" money. Since I don't drink much or do any drugs except weed, my PDM's on tour usually go on entertainment.

Anyway, I got home, and set the CD's on my desk with the intention of ripping them to my music library, then thought to myself "Fuck it - I'll just listen to them on Spotify."

They all got put on the shelf.... some still in the shrink wrap. lol

i do have clothes like that, clothes i keep year after year without wearing. boxed BUT on occasion, years after i buy a garment, that particular item will turn out to be perfect for a particular occasion, and even if i wear the garment only once i consider it worthwhile. shrug

i have a few electronics i rarely use (like the amplifier - i prefer headphones) but stuff like that, musical instruments, don't require frequent use to justify taking up space in my world.

other stuff, not so much. i don't enjoy having a lot of clutter, so i'll donate unused stuff to the goodwill.

I can't immediately think of instances of this with me. If it happens at all, it's because the item really disappoints me the first time I use it, and I just never return to it. Usually, though, I'd sooner end up giving it away or throwing it out. I hate amassing stuff, especially if I'm not using it regularly.

I do that with shoes and clothes a lot, then end up donating them in a charity group's bin.

well, someone, somewhere will be grateful to buy your stuff for a few bucks at goodwill. and, you could possibly claim a tax credit for the donation? hmmm

earlier this year i donated about 200 videotapes to arc's value village. cleaned out my entire closet.

but now, i sort of regret that. boxed because every now and then i like to re-watch stuff. so, getting rid of extra stuff can ocasionally backfire

I've never opened my .E.T. dvd.

A lot of my CDs only get put in a player once. Long enough to rip them, then I put them back in the case, and put it on the shelf.

I think food is the biggest waste of this idea though. Bread, fruit, milk....sometimes it just never gets used before it goes bad.

Yes, I paid a fortune for the box set of Sex and the City, and I have no time to watch it. err
I have a bread machine in the kitchen cabinet gathering dust...along with a juicer my husband bought, but is always too tired to use. mad
Hell, I even was stupid enough to pay for a topsey turvey, I think that's what you call it, it is a tomato plant gadget you hang, then I was to busy to set it up.
So yes, all the time. eek

Oh don't EVEN get me started on the kitchen appliances, etc. The rice maker, in the sealed box, the never used Le Creucet pots, but they look pretty in the cabinet tho disbelief

But I watched my SATC dvds as soon as they came to the door, ALL seasons. lol I'm very disappointed with you. hmph!

My worst purchase was a Sony DAT player 4 my car. I never installed that thing. It's collecting dust in my basement. A month after I purchased it, recordable cds became available.

I used to.

Here's my rule. If I go to a store and see something that I like. Something that I don't even have to think about, I'll buy it. I will eventually get use from it.

If I do the same and I see something, look at it, and have this debate in my head, I leave it alone. I've shopped like this before and the item ends up in the back of a drawer or closet.

I had a couple of female friends that used to do those years
ago. They used to come to work and tell the guys come on and
buy something for your women like lime likkety lik. The fellows
what be like wtf. Once we knew what they were talking about, we
were like cool but then they had to fuck up our groove when they
started talking about anal beads and how they gay friends say
they work. The fellows weren't even trying to hear that shit.
