There really is no need to make a statement like that. This topic is how a teacher is trying to treat a particular student unfairly. That article that was given in the classroom was racist, and the teacher saw fit to do that.

Are you defending the teacher? Why would you come on here and say what you said? You think a person who studies law and actually works in the field to end discrimination doesn't know what a racist act is? Are you implying that she hates white people?

Watch the eggshells, you just made a mess with your knee jerk reaction. disbelief

The statement about there being racism in everybodys race is not relevant here.

I shared something that happened to my specific child. The post that started this thread is not an idea, a blanket statement, or a mere perception or a theory. Its a factual situation that actually happened. It has nothing to do with any other race, the article attacked only one race-African Americans.

This teacher is cleary trying to squish her down into the box he thinks she shoud be in. My child is not prejudiced against anyone, she is just a little gifted girl trying to get an education and this racist teacher wants to try an mess with her as if she has no rights, or worse, has rights and is too ignorant to know about them.

I never made a mess tyvm and your attacking me as well not giving my responce much thought either..

NEVER did I say I was defending the teacher did I? NOPE! You assumed that youself am I correct nor did I imply the teacher in anyway. Re-read my responces afterwords.

I said what I said cause its FACT! I know whites hate whites blacks hate blacks religion against religion(fighting over who has the best religion and who is wrong in that perspective), not liking one for being homo/hertrosexual, the Indians and even Hitler was hate.Look around its EVERYWHERE!Also called hate crimes.

I NEVER said anyone the poster or anyone hated white people although there is a statement that set me off from SCNDLS post #22:
Who said there wasn't??? Doesn't mean we can't talk about the shit when it happens. However, this particular nonsense is almost always directed at black folks from non-blacks.
Isnt this a racist remark? IMHO it is it is directed at white folks saying/implying/assuming they cannot voice their opinion cause of their race nor belonging on this thread. I saw that the moment I responded and got shit for it. Nor did I imply my race color.
Read the sentence above in bold SLOWLY please.Should NOT matter what race said it imho.Which this thread has shown HATE toward me for even voicing my own opinion about this topic let alone, race alone and for one tiny sentence. Should not matter if they are trying to END discrimination they should of saw that in my post and not attacked me nor critizied me for my OPINION. Especially posters thereafter neutral As YOU are trying to attack me in your responce as well. Which many are proving my point even more and further in this thread.

Im not here to change anyones minds nor will any of you change mine.

I asked if you were defending the teacher because your post clearly implied that
the creator of the thread was trying to attack a race. You are on the defensive for NO DAMN reason. Have you noticed that other white folks are on this thread agreeing with the poster, simply because if any child was given any article that attacked their race it should be dealt with because its always wrong.

I know that too, but your post reads like the creator of the thread is wrong for speaking up for her child. You communicated that with your original post and then tried to backtrack but still stay angry and defensive.

Nope not at all, because you are too quick to assume that all black people get on these threads to attack the white race.
SCNDLS was illustrating the point that in the black community this is a common occurrence because it just is, not because she hates white people. So, she has experience in the matter, and is familiar with this type of issue.

IMHO it is it is directed at white folks saying/implying/assuming they cannot voice their opinion cause of their race nor belonging on this thread. I saw that the moment I responded and got shit for it. Nor did I imply my race color.
Read the sentence above in bold SLOWLY please.

Um yeah, I read that simple statement clearly, its a loaded statement too.
1. its defensive against the creator of the thread
2. no one implied that white people could not post or give an opinion, actually many white folks have
3.you did not need to imply race, you said.. "there is racism in all races including your own"
which implies, shit that got me angry because your accusing the creator of the thread of hate mongering.
4. It is your job to communicate what you decide to write effectively, no matter how slowly I read what you write, it still says the same thing, duh
I am not stupid, and you need to stop being so damn condescending.

Should NOT matter what race said it imho.Which this thread has shown HATE toward me for even voicing my own opinion about this topic let alone, race alone and for one tiny sentence. Race doesn't matter, this is not a thread about race, merely about a teacher who is attacking a child's race, this can happen to anyone of any race, when ever it does... it needs to be dealt with! The only one getting that we are attacking any one race is you.

Im not here to change anyones minds nor will any of you change mine.

Yeah it does you state that in your next paragraph (bold) let alone use the term loosely in the next (bold)

I shared something that happened to my specific child. The post that started this thread is not an idea, a blanket statement, or a mere perception or a theory. Its a factual situation that actually happened. It has nothing to do with any other race, the article attacked only one race-African Americans.
NEVER said or stated it didnt happen either nor said it was false that was YOUR assumption only.

This teacher is cleary trying to squish her down into the box he thinks she shoud be in. My child is not prejudiced against anyone, she is just a little gifted girl trying to get an education and this racist teacher wants to try an mess with her as if she has no rights, or worse, has rights and is too ignorant to know about them.[/quote]
As I stated before which some may have skipped I am a parent myself. Some teachers will push kids down for them to try harder others well.... I knew one that would belittle this guy in front of a whole class day in and out. He pushed and worked his way through school and became our local meteorologist on TV. Did he let the teacher( which was a woman) get him down? NOPE! He showed her different. he pushed on cause what made him push harder was her words EXACTLY quoted(I was there in class everyday when she said it)"You are not going to be ANYTHING when you grow up and get out of school". Since the day he has been on tv I ask the woman teacher about him, she hangs her head. All students have rights no matter if they have disabilities or not to get a fair education. But I feel some teachers like to teach ALL aspects of life as well not just certain parts of life.
Another thing I would like to say is that when my daughter was doing a paper on the concentration camps she found things out and was telling me things I NEVER knew. I say that because my daughters teacher is friends with a lady named Eva and she was in one of Hilters camps( she comes over EVERY year to talk to the class about her experience and released a book about her life in the camp). I never knew (until I read my daughters paper) that Hitler hated so many things which included homosexuals, of course the Jewish religion, and many other things. I only knew of the Jewish religion he hated but not other things. With that said, we can learn a lot just by opening our minds instead of attacking or hating on a persons view of things or cause of one sentence.
With this said, You never said if the teacher was trying to teach a basic lesson with that particular paper? Was he? If so, what was the lesson to be taught or the assignment?

Sad but very true, and I bet those same realtors/landlords will put their hand on the bible and swear they're not prejudice.

y oldest brother went through that when he went to purchase a house in Delaware. The realtors only took them to not-so-nice areas, until one day my brother decided to drive around Delaware on his own, and found some areas ther realtors didn't show them, and he managed to go right to the owner of a nice house he was interested in, and was able to purchase the house. It's a beautiful house, with a two-car garage. My brother was pissed off when he found areas, the realtors didn't take him and his wife to look for a home, and when he asked the realtors about specific areas, the realtors made excuses not to show them homes there. I tell you, it is a shame, that they had to deal with that, but my brother did manage to find a beautiful home and they're still living there.

You shoulda told your brother to move somewhere else cuz the realtors were prolly discriminating against white buyers too, so it ain't like he's special or anything. rolleyes

lol I think you missed my point SCNDLS. Never said my brother and his wife were "special". The realtors would not show him homes in specific areas he questioned the realtors about. It was excuses all the time, and they kept showing them homes in areas where it wasn't very clean. Keep in mind, those areas were integrated, but not where he wanted to buy a home.

The same areas the realtors would not take them, is where he went on his own, and purchased the house. So all is good, because he did look elsewhere and is content with his new home.

Glad to see you are cool as a cucumber... please explain why you said:
"there is rasism in all races including ur own"

because you immediately explained:

"Listen I even heard remarks from blacks slinging whites whites slinging remarks to blacks and that don't limit race it goes to religion as well."

so its no irony I am wondering why you are making these statements....

like I said, it seems like you are accusing folks of being hate mongers.

So for me, please... explain WHY you needed to post those statements. Because they make no sense to say in this topic.

And yes, I have a full grip on this topic thank you, and assumptions do suck, so you shouldn't be making them as well. wink

I didn't have time to tell you guys earlier that I had already filed a complaint with the principal of the school (I had at the same time requested this conference.) The school supposedly didn't identify the person complaining but it's obvious...she is the only African American in that class and she offered up some respectful protest the moment this racist article was distributed. The principal didn't get back to me fast enough so now its with the school board. Since filing that complaint with the principal, this asshole has been retaliating against my 12 year old--even lowering her grade an entire letter for not writing her name on a single art project (mind you...this project only required one piece...she did 4).

I smiled all nicey nice and let him talk, and he clearly thought my calm demeanor meant that I was stupid. Then I made sure he over clarified shit that he had said and before you know it, with my pleasant smile I had him backed into a corner based on his own statements. He was stuttering. That azz even made reference to me "punching in" at work. He kept changing his story as to why he messed with her grade. Now I'm gonna straight up sue that prick for discrimination against my minor child. See if he likes our ethnic names after he is done writing out a nice fat check for punitive damanges. Poor stupid bastard. I'm gonna rip him a new one. He has nooooo idea what I do for a living.....or how much I dislike people who mess with children

lol Well, you know, some of us know that only in America, many don't want to believe how racism affects the lives of specific groups on a daily basis, in many ways, just like what my brother and his wife went through, but ya know, many think some are just "imagining" these real life situations or suffering from "paranoia", but then again, that's the excuse that's thrown in many of our faces when acts of inequality/injustices are exposed. Just another day in America.

yes the teachers are crazy b/c in the face of pop culture and celebrity, names aren't what they used to be and nobody cares that much anymore save for old farts stuck in the 60s.

And wtf? More likely to have teen mothers? I had a teacher named Swan who was born to old parents so he said. Yep....HE!!!! A white man named Swan.

Maybe a reference to Marcel Proust's literary masterpiece Remembrance of Things Past?

I know a young man whose first name is Swan, his mother is white from France and his father is black from the French West Indies. I once asked his Mom if they had named him after Proust's character, and she said no. It was after the swans (boats) that were sailing in the caribbean sea. I'm not under the impression he has ever been made fun of. And I actually find the name quite romantic...

The school supposedly didn't identify the person complaining but it's obvious...she is the only African American in that class and she offered up some respectful protest the moment this racist article was distributed.

Is this what it all comes down to?

Well...obviously this is NOT what this comes down to. No amount of money can make up for some things. Standing up against him will help protect the minds of other children. The financial dent in his pocket may cause him to pause before doing something else so stupid.

Any damages (if sought) are just a hopeful deterrent for future discrimination. If there were a way to undo what he did, that would be preferable. This is not criminal court. I cannot have the asshole jailed. This is considered a civil mater, and unfortunatey, financial compensation is often the only relief that the courts offer and it is one that the laws have determined to be sufficient in some matters. To imply that for me this is just about any potential financial gain is an insult. Is that what you are implying, that this is what it all comes down to from my end? (if your answer to that is yes..... finger )

The statement about there being racism in everybodys race is not relevant here.
Yeah it does you state that in your next paragraph (bold) let alone use the term loosely in the next (bold)

NEVER said or stated it didnt happen either nor said it was false that was YOUR assumption only. This teacher is cleary trying to squish her down into the box he thinks she shoud be in. My child is not prejudiced against anyone, she is just a little gifted girl trying to get an education and this racist teacher wants to try an mess with her as if she has no rights, or worse, has rights and is too ignorant to know about them.As I stated before which some may have skipped I am a parent myself.

FYI--Hiter was probably a parent too and I don't give a fuck about his opinion on matters.

Are you sniffing glue or something? WTF! my post was pretty clear as to what the teachers intent was etc. If you are trying to tell me that this racist teacher is trying to help African American children advance in life by pushing them down and belittling their names, there is something seriously wrong with you.

I dont even want to waste space responding to the rest of your nonsensicle babble. If you want somebody to kick the shit out your kids spirit so that they can advance, that is your business but that is not the education I seek for my own.

I think you have trouble communcating in the written word as your skills are greatly lacking here on this thread. The only one trying to make this about racism against other races is you. If you want to expand the topic stop twisting the words of others and start your own thread.

Well, since folks were saying racism was universal and ya'll really need to move on, I was offering some friendly advice to your bro. wink

lol Well, you know, some of us know that only in America, many don't want to believe how racism affects the lives of specific groups on a daily basis, in many ways, just like what my brother and his wife went through, but ya know, many think some are just "imagining" these real life situations or suffering from "paranoia", but then again, that's the excuse that's thrown in many of our faces when acts of inequality/injustices are exposed. Just another day in America.

No doubt. nod And just because racism exists everywhere doesn't diminish the FACT that minorities are more often negatively impacted by institutional racism and discriminatory practices, like redlining, which affect their everyday lives.

Wow, so if your child was bit by a dog and you sued the owner of that dog for $$$, is it all about the financial compensation for you? People who do wrong all the time are made to pay for their mistakes. This teacher can't go to jail, so what other recourse does she have? Oh no, wait....

Oh, I see.... you're saying it's Ok to teach discriminatory practices to children in a classroom setting. Got it! thumbs up!

I'm very sorry you ladies should feel distressed by the statement I posted. I believe that we are very different eventhough all three of us bear the same citizenship (U.S.A.) if I am mistaken then please correct me. You see, I was born and raised in Africa and just moved out 3 months ago. In the counrty where I was raised you don't go in front of a judge to settle these matters nor demand monetary compensation. You sit down with the party at fault in the presence of a neutral third party and try to work out the situation in a rational manner which will suit the offended party.

In this particular case, it would be interesting to address this teacher's offensive behaviour and understand why he has a racist inclination. This situation, which is in truth unfair to your child, could be turned into an educational challenge. You could, for instance demand from the headmaster that a gathering be organized at the school in order to talk about racism in the United States, its consequences and its implications. I'm sure scholars would agree to attend, and even some older folks could come talk about how they lived in an openly racist society back in the 50s and 60s etc. An exhibition could be set up by the children dealing on the subject of the struggle for Civil Rights. Is that struggle still current and does it still apply today, is it still specific to Black people in the USA?

You could turn a wrong into a right without doing it with a vengeance, because in the end, what do you think your daughter will remember from all this mess if you really decide to take this person to court?

Maybe you could ask that this person present an official appology to your daughter, believe me if you do this, I'm pretty much sure your daughter's teacher will never again do to someone else what he did to her.

It's so much easier to fuel the fire of hatred than to stop it, and I believe that going to court would do just that: fuel it some more.

If you don't agree with me that's fine, I won't call you names nor will I give you the finger for that.

Peace!
