Calling all Los Angelino

I am coming back to LA in November and have decided since USA is the land of fast food, that is all I will eat for the whole week I am there .

But there is good fast food and really really bad fast food

No, I'm not looking for the bad smile I am looking for the good, if not the best !

Tell me where I can find the best burger, the best pizza, best hotdogs, best tacos, the best calzone, the best donuts, best burritos, basically the best everything you can think of smile Anywhere within the general LA area, I will have a car and am willing to travel if it really is the BEST 'whatever' it may be !

Cuz I'm gonna come and eat it !

And if anyone wants to come eat with me - feel free.

Let the recommendations begin smile

For Good burgers with belgian fries got to The Oinkster in Eagle Rock. They make good Pastrami and Pork sanwiches too. I heard their rotiserre chicken is not bad. If you have room, their cupcakes are scrumptious.

http://www.theoinkster.com/

For a great Italian Deli sandwich, go to the Eastside Market near Chinatown. I always grab the Roast Beef/Pastrami & Cheese.

For the best Pastarmi in the world, and yes I think they can compete with any NY Deli, go to Langer's Deli near Downtowm L.A. I heard their Reuben is good.

I live in Silverlake, so when I'm in the mood for Tacos or Burritos I go to Yuca's on Hillhurst:

http://yucasla.com

For Fish Tacos, go further down the street and go to Best Fish Tacos In Ensenada:

http://www.bestfishtacoinensenada.com/

LA Weekly recently did a Best Of LA issue, here is the Food and Drink section:

That Morgan Spurlock dude is probably a nice guy with good intentions but his Supersize Me film was nothing but propaganda, and I´m not even a fan of McDonalds myself but that pseudo-documentary was VERY unscientific, to say the least.

Burgers are actually good for you, some scientists say. The milkshakes are evil. lol

it was an interesting movie, but would have seemed less biased if he had eaten mcDonalds in the way he wanted to, including ordering salads, cups of water & small fries, instead of literally force feeding himself to the point of puking.

I have tried both before and while I liked the In N Out burgers - their fries were not that great even when you go animal style....

but their neapolitan shake makes up for it smile

any great pizza in LA ? calzones ?

There's wonderful food in LA...just not pizza or Chinese. At least that's *my* opinion!

Best sushi around...Geisha House and Sushi Dan...yummy. There was a great Mexican place I went to as well but I can't remember the name of it. I just remember the waiter telling us that (in a mexican accent) "the chicken taste like it was born in the sauce" and "not hot, spiiiiicy!"

Yeah, well read "Fast Food Nation" and find out that it's all of them that have an acceptable amount of feces in every burger. Each burger contains pieces of 12 different cows from 5 different countries.

I can't stand sushi but will be eating lots of Mexican..

I love El Pollo Loco and Taco Bell, Del Taco

but I want to try some smaller independent places (not part of a massive chain) that serve some great Mexican food - what do you say ?
