Hot 97 was Hot 103. They just moved down the dial. Then after Hot 97 went hip-hop, the new station at 103 switched formats back to dance.

That's true, but the company that owned 103.5 at the time bought WYNY and then switched the frequencies so 103.5 turned country and 97.1 became the dance station.
