But not having been around babies/kids ever, really, I'm looking for any good suggestions from the moms here for things I could bring/do to help her out

If she wants to get as much sleep as possible the rule

fresh diaper --> warm bottle --> swaddle warmly

always worked SUPER well...

There is a book: "What to expect the first year". Great book to give as a gift if she does not have one already.

there's tons of things you can get her the for the baby...those should be fairly easy to figure out...

but also get her something she can pamper herself with-for those brief times when she has a break...you probably know what she'd like...it could be a lotion or candles...maybe a bath or shower gel...something along those lines

Offer to baby sit.

I have noticed babys seem to love these bouncy chairs...they are fairly cheap too.
