I'm half Thai and I can't tell the difference between Thais and Philipinos
Thais as a nationality comprise ethnic Thai's, Indians, and Chinese(and a few other races). Thais are brown skin, Indians are olive, and the Chinese are yellow skin. So a Thai's skin can be red, brown, olive, or yellow. This is Thai:

The skin is darker, the cheeks tend to be more narrrow/hollow and not as round as the Chinese faces. 25-30% of Thais in Bangkok are of Chinese ethnicity and there's is naturally a good deal of interracial mixing so it's varied. A large ethnic minority of expatriote Europeans mixing with Thais in Bangkok has also changed the demographic somewhat. | |

Darker skin for Thais (can be very, very dark), more prominent noses, lips and larger eyes. More 'tropical' features, if that makes any sense, akin to Indonesians or even pacific islanders. Chinese people tend to be paler and with more 'neutral' features. That's probably horribly heavy-handed but there ya go. The thing is, my wife, on the right in the pic, has Chinese family only 3 or 4 generations back while our friend, who looks Chinese, is still also Thai. Thais like her are often referred to as Thai-Chinese, but in truth that could be said of nearly all Thai people to a greater or lesser extent, depending on how long their family has been in Thailand. I think Thai musician Sek is kinda cute and charming in a 'lo-so', salt of the earth Thai rocker kind of way.
