(however, i'm not really what we're talking about here)... maybe once these people hit princefams they had an epiphany and found people that they could relate to better... it's like if brand A is all you know, you may love brand A and think it's the shit and that nothing is better... but if someone comes along and shows you brand B, you might like that shit a lot better... then, you might think that brand A was bullshit, because you have this new perspective on things having tried brand B... or something like that... Exactly. Didn't we establish, through Azure's thread, that almost NO ONE felt attacked? Just tired of it? Because no one from here was identifying themselves as "Fams" (although so fucking what if they did?). And the people from there don't either! Damn! This is Ice's probelm that he is projecting on everyone else. It's funny to me that Ice claims the right for himself to be sarcastic and above it all but accuses everybody else of taking things so seriously. And by funny I don't mean funny. 
Oh, this is about humor? I really don't get it. It seems Ice wants to attack a few people but because of the prohibition against personal flaming he has taken to attacking a phantom group. Like the dumbass "naysayer" "asskisser" bullshit that this community has been subject to for so long, I find this meaningless and adolescent. This is nothing more than a continuous process of baiting people that has been going on on these boards for some time. It started with the Jehova Witnesses (who no longer post); continued with Nep2nes, for whom I had no symapthy, but who was ganged up on, lashed out, and was banned -- in THAT order; continued with RaneStarr, who was a friend of mine, was again ganged up on, and was banned. Despite the fact that I can see the problems people have with what she posts and the way she posts it, she has a right like anyone else to post what she wants. Same goes for Ne and the JWs. I would think a libertarian could see that. Now, it is continuing with Shorty. About that more doesn't need to be said because Shorty unlike the others can handle herself. It's sad to me that the moderators seem unable to identify anything other than curse words as flames. i was referring to this instance... yes, there are scenarios where one might need to choose one or the other, but this is not even close to being one of those... even still, in just about every situation possible, there is more than just either/or... it's more than just black or white... there is generally some grey (in between) area... I had to move this post because it was having an inferiority complex, sandwiched between two Bad megaposts.
We've established that few people are either inconditionally for or against Prince. There are some, mind you, but the labels are extremes that are used loosely, just like "right wing" or "leftist". It's understood that someone can be liberal, but also a fiscal conservative. It doesn't stop us from using labels like these. Just as long as everyone is aware they are just categories we use to define ourselves or others. I am definitely against cracking down on critical comments directed at one extreme or the other. That would just chill debate and expression. Although there are some teenagers, we're mostly adults, and people who feel targeted by comments on one group or the other should be proactive. Don't like Icenine's list on fams? Start one on naysayers! There's a laugh to be had at OUR expense on both sides, and I am ready to contribute. Perhaps by laughing a little at the labels, we transcend them? Some of the things hardcore representatives of both groups are saying ARE funny. Laugh along, I say. As for other cases like Nep2une, Oceana and al,, I don't think it's truly comparable. Those people repeatedly made personal attacks and continued well after being warned. If Icenine is warned, I'm sure he'll take it under consideration. | |
