Martha Wash was one of my favorite voices to werrrk when I did drag.
Matter of fact I won my very first pageant doing a Martha Wash mix.nod

Can you upload something off a dvd onto youtube? hmmm
[Edited 11/13/09 9:17am]

omg Lawd, I hope so. beg

Martha did it's raining men. Also awhile back she had CC Peniston on. Wendy LOVES her gays and they turn her show out on the daily. The fashion on her audience is sooo extra. I loves it! love

If I can find out how to load dvd stuff onto youtube I might be able to post some of my old drag performances.

I love Wendy... and I LOVE Ms. Carroll. I'll have to find out when this is next airing in these parts.

highfive

I've met all kinds of celebs and not batted an eye but I would positively PEE myself if I ever met Ms. Carroll.

I have loved her since she was on Dynasty. When I was a kid, she was the first black woman I remember being beautiful and glamarous and larger than life on tv. And she's definitely lived an exciting life on HER own terms. mushy

I completely started worshipping her after seeing her on A Different World as Whitley's mother. The wedding episode was classic Diahann. lol

One of my favorite episodes!!!!! nod
I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

When they were airing on tv regularly a few years ago I put all my fave eps on DVD. My other fave scene in this ep is when Byron's mama, the big lady from Amen, hugs her Diahann says, "Alright now, we don't want to wrinkle my crepe de chine." all sweet an' shit. lol

I went to a Diana Krall concert at the Hollywood Bowl last year and she was walking out. She's so elegant and gorgeous.

Anytime I see Diahann and Sidney Poitier I wonder if they ever regret not staying together. In my mind, they woulda been the perfect elderly couple, like a glamarous version of Ruby and Ossie

Love this movie! This was a hot looking cast and you know everybody was fucking on the set. That gatdamn Paul Newman was fine as hell! love

I love the scenes with Louis Armstrong but my favorite part is when Paul Newman tries to pick up Diahann Carroll at the train station (initially, he was actually pushing up on Diahann instead of the character played by Joanna, his wife).

Paul: Your girlfriend as pretty as you are?
Diahann: Yes . . . she's a white girl.
Paul: She might be hard to find, all these white girls look alike.

lol faint Funny dialogue considering it's 1961. The whole premise was really progressive too: Two girls, one black, one white, being best friends and travelling to Paris together and hooking with a black dude and white dude that are also best friends. Pretty fearless for '61. thumbs up!
[Edited 11/13/09 9:10am]

I've watched this movie in TCM, great ensemble but the storyline is so-so,,,,,and sometimes there're cringe worthy moments.

Integration officially happend and it also became 'chic', but sometimes the whole thing about them seemed forced hmmm

But, I won't argue about the chimestry between Sidney & Diahann love you couldn't contain it in all of the glass bottles in the world.

'Claudine' = classic. Terrific movie with a great cast. Whoever though 'Julia' could pull this off?

Whatever happened to her TV son, Marc Copage?

I'm not really in the know about this show, but I bought this as a present to Ma...

She's not exactly a TV/Movie buff,,,,but just like any lady(and some fellas) back in the 80s, she fell into the "Dynasty" trap lol

Something is severely wrong when you buy your mother a necklace(in which you saved a great deal to buy) and acts non-chalant about it, but cum like the falling rain when you give her a 'Dynasty' set whofarted

Girl yes, that was one of the best television shows to ever come on! I remember my mom and my exbf's mom were a lot like Patti Labelle and Diahann Carroll lol My ex's mom was the Patti Labelle character, cheap as dirt, while my mom was the Diahann Carroll character, classy and elegant. lol

Remember, when she was JJ's girlfriend and Flo an nem tripped cuz she was so much older??? mushy I loved it when she got older and had those locs when she was the dean on A Different World. That show was really good about showcasing quite a few older dames.

Rosalind was a CLASS ACT, that woman. My mother went to a one-woman-show of her in 1980 called Young Gifted & Black playing the role of the author, Ms. Lorraine Hansberry.

She was one of the fiercely talented sisters who got the raw deal and ended up with 1/2 assed cameos, like Ms.Diana Sands(remember her?).

Both women had that fire in their eyes,,,,,TOO much fire and free spirit to be typecasted(which is the reason why they turned down alot of roles).
