Chimp Attack Victim Lifts Veil on 'Oprah'

I feel so bad for this poor woman. I admire her strength. I wouldn't want to go on living if this shit happened to me.

There really needs to be stricter laws against owning any wild animal. There's a reason they're called 'wild'. Enough with this shit already.

I was watching that last night. so sad disbelief she is lucky to be alive and she has a good sense of humor. my jaw dropped when Oprah was talking about her mouth and this poor lady is like wishing she could have a hot dog or some pizza and Oprah's like well, at least you won't have to worry about your weight eek omg omfg

at least the lady (owner) did try to attack the chimp and did not wimp out when telling the cops he needed to be shot....but it looks like the financial games are going to be ugly...

I saw that show. disbelief

I was in the nail salon- it was so quiet you could hear a pin drop. We were all overcome with emotion. sad

This poor woman. I am filled with so much sadness for her. I am glad she is staying strong, though.

I saw the episode and admit it was more than I could take. I fast forwarded through most of it and when I went to bed I could NOT stop thinking of her. I finally just prayed for her. pray
Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off

I did not watch this episode of Oprah, but just reading the short article linked to in the first post made it clear what a strong spirit this lady has.

I feel so badly for her, but she seems the type to not want that from people; I hope she is able to one day get a face transplant and any prosthetics..I just wish she didn't lose her eyes (though I understand why she herself said maybe that was 'a blessing', but still..)

I'll be keeping her in my thoughts and prayers. pray rose

I thought the article was going to post the picture of her. I meant to record this yesterday, but I forgot. Now I'm curious to see what she looks like now. I even Googled it and still couldn't find it. Anyone with a link or pic?

Regardless, that shit is such a shame.

Never mind. I finally found one. Simply amazing that this woman still wants to live. More power to her...

The today show ran a story on her this morning and showed the clip (of Ophrah's show) where she unveiled her face. You can see her face if you watch the Today show on NBC.com I believe.
This entire story saddens me. I could never bear the sight of watching my pet tear my best friend apart. Chimps are always cute when they are babies... then they grow up into adult chimps.

They shouldn't be pets at all. They belong in the wild. An adult chimp is highly unpredictable and can tear a human part with its bare hands.

I watched a documentary that said that chimps are meat eaters and like baboons LIKE the taste of human flesh. Chimps in the wild hunt and kill other monkeys, some are even cannibals. Heck having a lion is probably safer. eek A least it won't steal your car keys and drive off in your car.

I was watching yesterday too, but when Oprah asked her if she would let her take a look, I put my head down and i'm glad she did it on her own terms.. I can't believe there was a bounty on her for the first pictures of her face..

I might add that Oprah did give you time to change the channel before she unveiled her face sad

Not everyone has the same tolerance at handling disfigurement, some internalize it and think of they themselves looking that way and are horrified.
This was my case, I got over it and my sense of compassion filled me up but that was my initial reaction to seeing her face.

Or maybe that was just me?

I guess I would feel sorry that it happened to her and I know how cruel this world can be sometimes. Just thinking how she will be viewed in public and the stares she'll have to deal with. Just so sad that had to happen to her.

I'm only speaking for myself, But i can't handle stuff like that.. I have the interview taped but i only caught a glimpse of her face and i guess it's kinda fortunate that she can't see what was done to her

They don't show her face in that link.

And why do they call the chimp a beast?...it's a wild animal that should NOT have been in that ladies house for her pure entertainment or companionship, it should have been in the wild.

I remember following this story when it first broke in the news, but I had no idea her injuries were this extensive. I've always heard chimps were strong, but I had no idea they were capable of this kind of damage. I would have wrapped my hands around that chimps throat and strangled him to death. But if the owner stabbing him with a knife didn't stop him, I guess trying to strangle him would have done no good. God be with this woman, she's lost a lot.

No wonder Mike got rid of Bubbles, lol.

Now we all know why, this woman should have done the same.
