I had that scene at my house when he came home. Imagine the reverse, when Rick came home for R and R he stayed for 2 weeks and then went back to Afghan, for about 3 days after Rick left Sebastian would whine to go to the garage and look for Rick he would see his car and look at me like where's he at? When he would hear the neighbors garage door go up he would run to the back door and I would tell him Daddy's not there baby It was terrible.
He was worse than the kid MUCH Worse. Now Sebastian whines every time Rick leaves the house without him. Sebastian cried the whole time Rick was cutting the grass on sunday. He is really having some separation issues with him. It's going to be interesting when he gets a job. We all should know that diversity makes for a rich tapestry, and we must understand that all the threads of the tapestry are equal in value no matter what their color. Maya Angelou

Sorry, I don't believe that one second. Dogs act the same, regardless. It is your excitement at seeing your dog makes your dog react the way you are towards them. Otherwise, they are just as happy. Is it so hard to understand that dogs have NO concept of time? Sheesh!

No it's true that my brother's dog acts insane when I get there, and I don't feed him take him, on walks, or pay that much attention to him at all. He's just a dog and very excited. But the soldiers seem pretty happy to be getting the love, and it's pretty sweet. My Legacy

No...its TOTALLY different i swear! I act the same with the "mommies home I missed you" yada yada yada but he cant stop kissing me! He is just ouuta control running around jumping on things licking me like crazy! When i came from work today, he greeted me at the stairs wagged his tail did a little dance but there was no kissing at all... no running and jumping on furniture making whining noises...
I know theres no concept of time but there is a concept of missing, animals do grieve for others... ~~~~~ Oh that voice...incredible....there should be a musical instrument called George Michael... ~~~~~

My grandpa described picking his dog up from the kennel after a long trip and the dog was peeing itself it was so excited. So maybe these dogs have no concept of time, but maybe they forget that this person even existed until they get a smell of that old familiar crotch and go wild! My Legacy

My dogs are the same way too when I go away on a trip. They also don't eat the first day or two while I'm away. When I return, they've been know to do the "submissive urination" which is a way to show deferrence to the Alpha dog in our pack (me). Also, when my Marley died this year, it took at least a month for Prince to stop following me to the garage looking for me to be bringing Marley home and he was clearly depressed and missing Marley and laid in Marley's bed for HOURS every day and would try to fight Cowboy if he got in Marley's bed. [Edited 11/11/09 19:13pm] It may or may not be true that dogs have no sense of differentiation like that, but I know my cat couldn't care less when I show up at home after a day at school... yet let me stay away for a couple days or more. He goes INSANE when he sees me!! Dashing around the apartment at top speed, jumping all over me, trying to hop under the covers with me when I get in bed, etc. Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου

Not true. I ised to dogsit for a dog, and depending on how much I bonded with the dog the last time I had babysat (spent time playing/walking) was directly proportional to how excited the dog was to seeing me the next time. and when his owner would come to pick him up it was a different reaction all together. He would actually be more stable (not excited wagging and spastic) and almost do a slow motion hug, he would literally stand up and put his legs on her shoulders and stand. Keep in mind this was a very very humanlike smart dog. My art book: http://www.lulu.com/spotl...ecomicskid
