Will the world really END in 2012?

People have been predicting the end of the world for a long time. I saw a special of it on the History channel, and they have all been proven wrong. I remember back in 99,I was so scared. But nothing happend! Now with the hype of the new film 2012,its got me wondering again. I mean, doesnt it say in the bible that earth will always exsist. In my opinion,I dont think the world will be ending anytime soon. Whats ur opinion?

I doubt it. I for one would be in denial till it was too late. Cause I don't believe that it will be in 2012.
Or in my lifetime for that much. So if the world goes down. I'm gonna be really surprised.
But by then it would be too late for any of that. I'm not convinced on 2012.

That's not the end of the earth, it's meant to convey the last days before Christ's return.

But any good Christian who knows their Bible knows that even after Christ returns, the world, the earth, or whatever, doesn't cease to exist. Paul said, "And I saw a NEW heaven and a NEW EARTH". This whole "the world is ending" thing is ridiculous. What happens to everything once the earth blows up and all life ceases to exist? It's preposterous, and I hate when Christian's don't realize the truth (and the lie) of it all.

the 2012 thing comes from the end of the Mayan calender. any real look at it will tell you that it means nothing.

hell, i just looked up 2012 on wikipedia and even real Mayans don't put any stock in it. shrug

if you only need to do a search on wikipedia to debunk it, then there's not much to it.

I know. My grandmother said that they have been saying the same thing since the 40s, and people are still waiting.

Well if it does, then at least I'll go out while I'm still relatively young and looking ok. But then, I guess no one else will be around to appreciate that anyway. confused

Yes. I find that fact somewhat discomforting. Not scary or anything, since it's obviously a long ass time away and who knows what happens until then, but earth (and therefore most likely mankind as well) does not have an infinite future.

But all this "the world ends in year x" is a bunch of crap. It would be totally hilarious if there weren't a bunch of idiots every now and then that kill themselves and their children everytime a damn asteroid comes "close". neutral

You can even think beyond that--one trillion years from now, the very last star in the universe will burn out. (This fact from a magazine article I read about a year ago.)

The Earth will not always exist, but it will exist for a long time after WE will exist! Even if we're hit by an enormous meteor and no life exists on earth, the earth itself will probably be around until the sun dies.
