I remember my mom came to visit me in college and I took my BC pill right in front of her and she cut me the side eye 
first off I had my own apartment and a job! second, she tole me not to bring no babehs home!! and last, they helped alleviate my cramps!!!

I never hid things from my mother, in fact, she was the one person that I could actually be my most authentic self with.
There are some things that I believe are just private and I don't talk about to anyone, like specifics when it comes to my sex life. However, aside from that, she was always amused by my life and in her words sort of envious at how daring I could be. Working as a phone sex operator for a while, being a stripper for a day (I hated it and quit), I never felt the need to hide those things from her...or really anyone except for my dad. There are some things that a father would rather not know about his baby girl.
Although, I do remember him inquiring as to if I was sexually active. At the time I was an adult and living on my own, so I wasn't really sure as to why he would ask. But he just wanted to make sure that I was protecting myself. I remember being so embarassed. I was honest and said yes, but I quickly ended that conversation. Perhaps I don't share with my dad not because I want to protect him, but to protect me. I don't need to, and would rather not have certain conversations with my father...to me it's just weird.
