Thank [insert deity here] for Medicare!!!!

Healthcare costs me nothing as I already automatically pay the levy out of my Pay As You Earn tax. Doctors and hospital care are free.

Dental on the other hand isn't but if you don't need work done it only costs $300 per year for two checkups.

You people in the states have it bad I think.

geeez that's expensive!! dead my dad was a dentist and I used to type up his accounts, check ups back in the early 90s were $38 for regulars!

I do contra deals with my dentist lurking

I'm only guessing, actually, since I pay $150 each time I get my braces done. It might be less for just a standard checkup when you only get your teeth cleaned or something. Who knows? lol

I never cease to be amazed at the conceit and stupidity of those who believe that, just because they don't care that their government robs them blind, everyone else should roll over and hope theirs does the same.

I'm curious about how those who seem to be against public health care feel about having their taxes pay towards the following:
    road work/maintenance
    public schools
    Social Security
    Medicare
    NASA
    military spending
    the Smithsonian
    the US Postal Service

All of these are things receive funding from the government (taxpayer money). I doubt that everyone who pays taxes is 100% happy their money is spent on some of these programs. But in a civilized society, that's the way it goes. Everyone has to pay for things that they may not personally use or agree with, but are deemed necessary for the overall good of the society. Shouldn't having a healthy society be included in that?

And a specific question to you, Genesia: what are your thoughts on Medicare? (ie. do you plan on signing up for it if you qualify?)

i'm doing our annual benefits open enrollment for qualified employees and i must say...i'm shocked that so many employees are declining options. now i realize that some of them don't make a lot of money (and then some of them do) but i'm trying to explain the benefits of having health, dental and vision insurance and it's like talking to a wall. our vision plan costs $1.40 per pay period, dental is between $1.90-$3.47. if you are a part time employee , there is a health care plan for as little as $11 a week. full time employees are offered full HMO. i have to twist their arms to get life insurance AND IT'S FREE!! ( worth 1 x their salary) we offer short term disability that's available as soon as 7 days out of work. cost $2 and up.

i mean aren't there millions out there with no coverage who would be glad if somebody even offered them some benefits?

i pay for hmo, short and long term disability, vision, dental, life insurance and critical care. i'm not mad about paying it because shit happens and people get sick or hurt. better to be prepared than blind sided.

$1.40 a day 4 vision is $511.00 year. U can get 2 pair of glasses for $132.00 at the mall.

He said $1.40 per PAY PERIOD. Most companies pay twice/month or every other week, so that's 26 x $1.40, or $36.40. Even if it were weekly pay periods that's still only $72.80. geek

No wonder everyone's financially fucked - people can't even do simple multiplication.

just 1. But it also has coverages to supplement medical eye issues as well as glasses and exams.

but I think you are correct it is still a bit much....and I pay $10 for the exam and $10 for the frames (copyas and another $30 for the special lenses)
