woot! Walking is great when you've beautiful scenery as the backdrop. I don't walk as much as I like, but I do enjoy a mid-afternoon stroll to the market and back a few times a week.

it's not that pretty, it's kind of an industrial park with pools that are litter traps with an experimental water filtration lake thing - man made

birds moved in, and not just sea-gulls woot!

Looks alright though. I'm sure it'll look better as it all settles in there over time.

It's exactly 2km around, so if we walk briskly we can do 2 laps in just under an hour I think nod not too hard.

comfort

Coffee's horribly addictive isn't it, having such a large effect physiologically on your life, in several ways. I think a little caffeine is no bad thing if you're exercising regularly and trying to lose weight though. smile

i've never had it a lot prior to the last couple months, and now i get a hangover-like headache if i don't have it in the first half-hour that i'm at work every day. sigh

hug Really very powerful stuff when you're drinking more than a couple of cups a day. Mon loves her coffee but has managed to cut down to one iced black coffee a day. She sometimes has guarana though, which is even stronger, to have a boost before exercise. Bit dodgy though, really. Ask Dan about coffee addiction. lol

I like a strong black coffee but I've noticed lately that if I have more than a couple of sips of Mon's I get a headache. sad

So what...you enjoy making some of us depressed???

sigh

My cholesterol is off the carts, so healthwise I'm not doing so good.

My spirituality is at a standstill.

My fitness level is not where it should be, because even though I had determined to work out again, in the past 3 weeks I've only hit the gym twice.

I'm also losing my hair and dead broke. HAPPY?!?!!?

Hookah's like shisha? I don't mind it, but if I'm smoking cigarettes I still smoke the same number so all in all my throat is screwed.

Mon's basically telling me how many cigarettes I can smoke each day now so I'm just being a good boy and sticking to what she gives me. lol Still almost a pack a day though.

[Edited 11/5/09 18:18pm]

This is an amazing question and one that definitely generates a lot of thought....

Am I there yet? No, definitely not. I've realised in the past two years just how much I've rated my own growth based purely on how I am perceived by others and what a mistake that is....but also trying to find the balance of my perception of self vs/related to others' perception of me. To make it clear....in the past I guess I didn't have the confidence to allow myself growth for me without the influence of others as I (incorrectly) thought it was too arrogant. So I guess this burns down to trying to find a balance between sense of self, appreciation of self, acceptance and tolerance of others and how it all intertwines. It's been very difficult.

I'd say I am on the right path but it's a struggle. Where does one draw the line between mutual growth and self-sacrifice? At thirty three I'm just learning where that line SHOULD lie and trying to make sure I stay as close to it as possible.

I'm not so much a spiritual person as my brain is firmly rooted in logic and understanding...but always empathic to others so I try to have an honest acceptance and respect for the spirituality of others...regardless of how illogical I find it.

What would be 'there' for me?

hmmm I guess finding the balance between self-care, self-"spiritual" maintenance and the roles others play in my life. I value people very highly, especially my closest friends as they predominately come from the same "supremely fucked up teenager made good" stock. For me 'being there' would be finally owning my own home and being in a position at work where I get what I want (ie satisfaction) and am appreciated by my peers. At home it would be a harmonious environment with a partner who appreciated and understood me but would also have enough faith in the relationship to help me work on my faults without causing any detriment to himself.

These are very lofty goals but as I was fortunately blessed with an analytical and empathic mind, I feel I will be able to get there.

I guess in summary I could say a life without constant sacrifice and mutual support.

Does any of this make sense?

What would be 'there' for you, and what will it take to get it from where you are now? guess i'll know if/when i get there.

I would suggest what I switched too a while ago: coffee with breakfast and green tea otherwise. It's much stronger than people know and also has the ability to assist with weight loss / lack of weight gain. Great stuff!!! If you find it too bitter, honey works wonders.

In a bad place right now.

Health - didn't get a place on the Marathon, so I stopped running and rowing, and doing anything much but walking.

Fitness - as expected given above

Spirituality - lapsed catholic, there is no god - say no more. Work is my religion and work currently sucks - say no more.

my health is a mess, physical and mental. I need to work on my anger/stress, as I am giving mysef heart problems and just got high blood pressure over the past few years. Plus tension headaches, and chronic pains. Nothing serious but very annoying to deal with daily. I need to get to a dentist ASAP as teeth are falling apart from smoking. Not bad rotted but 2 need to go. (ewww! I'm ashamed). My weight is too high but I did start going back to the gym (yay!)

My spirituality is rough. I am really needing to get back to finding something to believe iin.

Overall I am not very happy in my life sad

Health? ok, I guess. Fitness? I don't work out or intend to. Spirituality? I am immortal, this body is just a temporary temple until I ascend into eternity.

Health - I'm doing pretty good. I recently lost some weight and I'm in ok shape. I don't smoke (cigarettes) and I do drink but not heavily. I try to eat healthy and make sure I get my fruits, veggies, fibre and proteins. I don't exercise as much as I should, but I do walk a lot.

I'm an atheist, but I believe in humanity and try to focus on the good things people are doing in this crazy world rather than all the f*cked things that are going on. I try to stay positive, be kind and helpful to others.

Is there even a finishing line or do you anticipate a continuing process for as long as you live? there is a finishing line in terms of fitness... & a maintenance line lol

What would be 'there' for you, and would will it take to get it from where you are now? I have to stop playing & keep my gym regimen going. I do well w/ my eating habits, but it only allows me to maintain & I need to be in losing mode right now. I will get there!
