Here we go again. Yankees play by the rules of baseball. Don't hate the Steinbrenners because they spend money, invest in their team, and actually care about winning. The other owners won't change the system because of all the money the Yanks make for them.

The only thing the Yankees brought were players who showed that they could do the job they were brought in to do and that's win a World Championship. Like uptownNY said, they did their job like all the other teams in the MLB do.

Now if you want to talk about certain people in NY buying stuff, then we can talk about how Michael Bloomberg brought Tuesday's election for a 3rd term that he has no business having because NYers voted for Term Limits in the 90's but he rolled all over that and ultimately pulled the wool over NYer's eyes. It's like that saying goes, money talks and bullshit walks. The Yankees are not Michael Bloomberg.

Agree with you and UptownNY. Now, let's talk about how we're going to deal with traffic issues tomorrow morning when those Yanks have their parade. lol Not to mention all the people that will be out celebrating the win during the evening hours. I remember the last time, people were standing on top of tree branches, cars, buildings and anywhere they could get a view. What can we say? There's always a party going on in NY. Congratulations to the Yankees though.

I wish players would just stay with the teams the were drafted by and just build from there. Remember when teams were built by the draft and trades. Now it's all about Free agency and Big money. It's too bad you will never see a franchise like the michael jordan/ bulls championship teams. Jordan could of left and joined the Lakers and could of been like a Western conference All star team. It just takes the fun out of sports. So basically the team with the biggest bank roll is most likely to win? That's all I'm saying.

The Cubs spend the loot but they seem 2 be incompetent at judging talent.

I guess you got a point about the Cubs but they still don't put out Yankee money.

So why don't the teams just pay the home grown players to stay the way the Yanks paid Jeter and Rivera to stay with them for their entire careers? Most of the other team owners have the money. Why don't they spend it?

The Yanks make millions just for merchandising alone. Every new yorker or new yorker-wanna-be has Yankee gear.

Sure the Yankees generate lots of revenue, but the Steinbrenners still aren't as rich as some of these other owners that refuse to invest any of their own money into their teams the way George did when he bought the Yanks back in the 70s.

That's a false statement. This is the Yankees first WS win in NINE years. And before 1996, their last WS appearance was in 1981. But the haters only come out when they win instead of checking the facts. Like Gray said, it's also about judging and developing talent. The Twins have had success. How about the Marlins - they won TWO championships, an look at their payroll.

Free agency & big money is the best thing to happen in sports. Back in the day, players got ripped off, and the owners made all the loot. Now the players are getting paid, and they should. I hate this idea that athletes are supposed to be better than the rest of us Americans and turn down money.

So, so true. The thing is the NY Yankee have always outspent everyone else. How long has it's been since they've won? Nearly a decade? It appears the went for young top talent and developed their farm system and brought in the big guns to balance it off. Minn is always sniffing around a division title... you can't get any smaller market than that. Won a couple of World Series rings. So, I think the "crying" about the NY bought a champsionship mute.

The Pirates are a great example. They had a fire sale the past two years because they don't want to pay their top talent. You see what Damaso Marte's done for the Yankees?

To echo some others, that "hate" is simply jealousy of an owner that's committed to winning and pours the profits right back into making the team better. Even then, it doesn't guarantee you a championship (2001 through 2008).

However, in 2009...

...And that's the bottom line!

Btw, i'm not some Johnny-Come-Lately bandwagoner.
Born and raised in NYC and a Yankee fan since the days of Mickey Mantle.

Thank you. I aint mad at the Yankees. They do things the right way. 27 World Series titles. That says it all right there. 27 and counting.
