Who on the org has had Swine Flu .....

I'm wondering how big of a problem it is so far. It's hard to believe the media they seem to blow things out of proportion. I can't decide if I want the vaccine or not? I was just trying to find out how much of a problem it really is so far.

Go to the General Discussion and read. Someone here does have it, so at least 1 person.

One of my second cousins (in Iowa) evidently just died from it. eek She was in her late 20s/early 30s. My mom said she had respiratory and kidney failure, and the family seems to think it may have been H1N1.
The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

I'm pretty sure I had it, even though I was not tested for it. I was slammed like never before.

I wonder why so many teenagers are dying from it. I can understand babies because they don't have a fully developed immune system yet.

Have you noticed you never hear about reports from Mexico any more? I'm sure it has to be getting worse down there.

Me too- I work with children and one of them were sick with vomiting and fever in May and then my assistant was sick and out for a week- and of course I had to be taken to the hospital - temp over 104 and couldn't breathe-

the doctor knows I work with children- she said I didn't present with symptoms for H1N1 and wrote a note for me to post- I of course in retrosprect think that that is exactly what is was- because two more children got sick afterwards

you really won't know unless you are tested for it.

Thanks...like I said, it's not confirmed that's what she had, but for some reason they think that's what it was. I am waiting to hear confirmation from my mom.

Edit: just got an email from my mom that it was H1N1.

They swabbed me and everything and I assumed they were going to test for it but they just tested for Influenza A & B. I missed 2 weeks of work that is how sick I was.

I work in the medical profession and the only problem with it is that every tom, dick and harry thinks they've got it the second they have a runny nose.

It's not as bad as the press make out and it's unlikely to be fatal unless you have underlying health problem or are elderley

Ps - the face masks....they do nothing

Sorry to hear that rose

I'm tired of people just saying it's just the flu because it's obviously targeting and killing healthy young people which isn't the normal flu. People better take this seriously, even tho I'm not getting the vaccine, I'm really concerned for folks out there. Most of the kids and some of the adults in Dallas that died were healthy. disbelief

Of course I do, but it doesn't seem as common as it's been with this, especially among young people.

I had H1N1 - I first got sick the day Michael Jackson died. (I went home early from work so I had no idea he'd died.) My brother, sister-in-law and their five kids had it. All at the same time. It was bad in that it lasted a long time, but we all survived it.

Last year a month before the crisis was announced...my son's schoolmate died--he was just 12. No prior medical problems...he had the flu on Friday and died by Saturday night. The strain of flu was never announced
Going to church doesn’t make you a Christian, any more than standing in a garage makes you a car.

Both me and my wife had it, got over it fairly quickly with no problems, wasn't that bad for us. Was just like a bad flu.

Make sure you get your oinkment out of the cupboard and you'll be fine lol

I did in late March/April while on vacation in Vanuatu. My friend that was travelling with me didn't catch it though and I had it a week before it was broadcast as an outbreak.

Yup. Been there, done that and got the T-shirt. I was the first officially diagnosed case in Zambia. Needless to say that once it got to the political level it turned out I only had normal flu and that Zambia was "H1N1 free".

I also know 4 other people that "never" had it too...
