All songs have a sexual meaning... I'm wondering...why is it that many of us, when we don't understand the meaning or significance of a song's lyrics, assign a sexual meaning?
I had a friend in high school that swore that "New Sensation" by INXS was about anal sex... "New Sensation" Live baby live Now that the day is over I got a new sensation In perfect moments Impossible to refuse Sleep baby sleep Now that the night is over And the sun comes like a god Into our room All perfect light and promises Gotta hold on you A new sensation A new sensation Right now Gonna take you over A new sensation A new sensation Dream baby dream Of all that's come and going And you will find out In the end There really is There really is no difference Cry baby cry When you've got to get it out I'll be your shoulder You can tell me all Don't keep it in ya Well that's the reason why I'm here (these were the phrases that caused the controversy - applekisses) Are you ready for a new sensation A new sensation Right now Gonna take you on a new sensation A new sensation Hate baby hate When there's nothing left for you You're only human What can you do It'll soon be over Don't let your pain take over you Love baby love It's written all over your face There's nothing better we could do Than live forever Well that's all we've got to do Hey now I'm gonna take a new sensation A new sensation (Jthad1129's post ( http://www.prince.org/msg...&tid=32190 ) about "Shock the Monkey" by Peter Gabriel being about wacking off reminded me of this.

Everything is sexual!!! Ok...tell me how the lyrics to "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" are sexual... The legend lives on from the Chippewa on down of the big lake they called "Gitche Gumee." The lake, it is said, never gives up her dead when the skies of November turn gloomy. With a load of iron ore twenty-six thousand tons more than the Edmund Fitzgerald weighed empty, that good ship and true was a bone to be chewed when the "Gales of November" came early. The ship was the pride of the American side coming back from some mill in Wisconsin. As the big freighters go, it was bigger than most with a crew and good captain well seasoned, concluding some terms with a couple of steel firms when they left fully loaded for Cleveland. And later that night when the ship's bell rang, could it be the north wind they'd been feelin'? The wind in the wires made a tattle-tale sound and a wave broke over the railing. And ev'ry man knew, as the captain did too 'twas the witch of November come stealin'. The dawn came late and the breakfast had to wait when the Gales of November came slashin'. When afternoon came it was freezin' rain in the face of a hurricane west wind. When suppertime came the old cook came on deck sayin'. "Fellas, it's too rough t'feed ya." At seven P.M. a main hatchway caved in; he said, "Fellas, it's bin good t'know ya!" The captain wired in he had water comin' in and the good ship and crew was in peril. And later that night when 'is lights went outta sight came the wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald. Does any one know where the love of God goes when the waves turn the minutes to hours? The searchers all say they'd have made Whitefish Bay if they'd put fifteen more miles behind 'er. They might have split up or they might have capsized; they may have broke deep and took water. And all that remains is the faces and the names of the wives and the sons and the daughters. Lake Huron rolls, Superior sings in the rooms of her ice-water mansion. Old Michigan steams like a young man's dreams; the islands and bays are for sportsmen. And farther below Lake Ontario takes in what Lake Erie can send her, And the iron boats go as the mariners all know with the Gales of November remembered. In a musty old hall in Detroit they prayed, in the "Maritime Sailors' Cathedral." The church bell chimed 'til it rang twenty-nine times for each man on the Edmund Fitzgerald. The legend lives on from the Chippewa on down of the big lake they call "Gitche Gumee." "Superior," they said, "never gives up her dead when the gales of November come early!"

It is called "Lie: The Love and Terror Cult" and was put out after he was imprisoned. The songs are a kind of strange, fucked-up, psychedelic folk music. Very strange stuff... Marilyn Manson stole the lyrics to "Mechanical Man" and used them as a song called "My Monkey" for which he did not credit Charles Manson. "I had a little monkey And I sent him to the country And I fed him ginger bread Along came a choo choo And knocked my monkey koo koo And now my monkey's dead" Here are the song titles: 1. Look At Your Game Girl 2. Ego 3. Mechanical Man 4. People Say I'm No Good 5. Home Is Where You're Happy 6. Arkansas 7. I'll Never Say Never To Always 8. Garbage Dump 9. Don't Do Anything Illegal 10. Sick City 11. Cease To Exist 12. Big Iron Door 13. I Once Knew A Man 14. Eyes Of A Dreamer http://www.cduniverse.com...=134571041 SUPERJOINT RITUAL - http://www.superjointritual.com

I don't mean to jack your thread with Charles Manson, but here is a quote about Manson from Neil Young:
"I met Manson through Dennis Wilson. He wanted to make records. He wanted me to introduce him to Mo Ostin at Reprise. He had this kind of music that nobody else was doing. He would sit down with a guitar and start playing and making up stuff, different every time, it just kept comin' out, comin' out, comin' out. Then he would stop and you would never hear that one again. Musically, I thought he was very unique. I thought he really had something crazy, something great. He was like a living poet." Either that, or the lyrics are assigned a drug reference. This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.

Oh, I don't mind...actually, I think I'm jacking my own thread... but, thanks for being concerned. I always thought that Manson would be somewhat of a poet. He just has that quality about him. Plus, wasn't the whole 'Helter Skelter' thing about him believing that The Beatles stole his work?

Plus, wasn't the whole 'Helter Skelter' thing about him believing that The Beatles stole his work? Nope... the girls just wrote "Healter Skelter" on the walls, along with "Pig" and "Rise," in an attempt to shock people and make it look like an uprising of some sort. Manson claims that he never really liked the Beatles... that Bing Crosby and cats like that were who he idolized. SUPERJOINT RITUAL - http://www.superjointritual.com
