Aiptek High-Definition Digital Camcorder is good. You can find it at Target for about $150. Records in MOV format. Also takes good pictures. My roommate has the last model, and it's great. I kind of want the newer model out now.

Don't a lot of those pocket camcorders (like the Flip Mino HD) lack image stabilisation?

All the sample videos I've seen look great when they're mounted on a tripod, but really jerky when hand-held.

true. the pocket ones have their place, but if video quality is what she wants she'll have to step up to a dedicated camcorder IMO.

Chris, we're looking at the sony at the moment nod

can you tell my why a flash memory one would be better than HD recording?

not sure what you mean....it will record HD content directly to flash memory...either installed on the camera or a flash based card. I mean use flash memory cameras instead of outdated consumer tape based cameras. smile

sorry, hard disk recording as opposed to flash memoery

OK, got a sony, hard disk recording one, 80gB

one day we will spend the money and get a proper one, can't justify the expense for a fancier one.

Thanks Jers! thumbs up!
