Have you ever nearly strangled yourself in your sleep? Well? Was quite scary. I noticed in my dream that I couldn't breathe, was trying to shake myself awake when my hand just wouldn't move away from my throat which was cutting off my air passage. I finally woke up of course, but not without my heart beating a 100 miles per hour. I wonder why these things happen. I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

your hands are trying to kill you in your sleep? never happened to me. sometimes if i'm dreaming of punching or kicking something, my arm or leg will twitch and wake me up. that's about it. everyone's a fruit & nut case

I'm sort of a wild sleeper. I go to sleep on the right side of the bed and then wake up laying at the opposite end on the left side My boyfriend said I slapped him in my sleep one night while I was tossing and turning and I didn't even know it until he told me in the morning I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

Ive had sleep Paralysis....and that's not a funny thing.
It's when you are awake but, for a short period, are completely unable to move or speak and sometimes get hallucinations. It's only happened to be once but scared the shit out of me...I couldn't move, couldn't call to my wife and, for a few seconds, was convinced I was in a White tiled room like a Autopsy, then it just stopped and I could move. Saw a documentary once about people who fuck in their sleep....THAT was pretty amazing, they didn't know they were doing it and, at first, their partners thought they were just not taking "no" but in the morning they had n recollection.....I might try that excuse [Edited 11/4/09 4:29am]

I've slept on an arm (or both) to where they were completely limp and woke up thinking I was paralyzed, which was definitely not fun tho.

Nah, this is real paralysis - your eyes are open, you know your awake but you can not move a single muscle or utter a word...it's s real horror movie moment. It's quite common apparently

It happens every few days. it can be a sign of migraines. In addition, the paralysis state may be accompanied by terrifying hallucinations (hypnopompic or hypnagogic) and an acute sense of danger.[11] Sleep paralysis is particularly frightening to the individual because of the vividness of such hallucinations.[7] The hallucinatory element to sleep paralysis makes it even more likely that someone will interpret the experience as a dream, since completely fanciful, or dream-like, objects may appear in the room alongside one's normal vision.

I don't get migraines, never have. I do understand that a few sufferers may have the hallucinations but it has never occured in my experience. Doctors said the increased heart rate is caused by the anxiety I feel at the moment I wake up and realise I cannot move nor speak. The way I treat it is to fall back asleep and it just disappears by the time I wake up again. Apart from that there are no treatments available for this sleep disorder.

You'd be suprised tbe many for s migraines can take. I've had ones where I've been admitted to hospital numb down one side, I've had just visual distortion, just headaches, just rushing in my ears, tingling in limbs. And then I've had those nasty bastards that are all of the above at once

No, but I woke up once with the left hand side of my face hanging down towards my chin.Try an imagine if you can a severe droop. It took a half an hour or so for it to settle back to where it was the night before... I know, I dont understand it either.

I'm 24 and I wonder when it's going to end... It may or may not end so it's something U have to learn to live with, it does get better. It was a lot more frightening when I was a kid and teen, now it's fine because I know to expect it.
