My wife wants to move to Minneapolis

I've lived in the NE all my life. I don't know anyone out there, besides her friends....and it's freakin' cold a lot!

Hold her off for one more winter.

Then let her read all the Minneapolis and mid-west threads titled "It's so cold I want to die" or "If it snows anymore I'm going to die" threads pervasive on this site from November to about April of every year.

Hope that helps hug

I can't wait to get Muse out here for her first winter. giggle She's gonna freeze to death. In a good way. lol

As for the topic, I love it here. shrug If I ever move away, I know I'll come back eventually.

Nebraska is cold and icy. But I think MN is a little tad colder.

The South has thinned my blood, I could NEVER go back to living in that cold!

Sorry for any confusion. I'm talking the North East. We get 3 or 4 feet of snow a year. It's heavy and slushy, but it goes away most of the time.

HELP

My first job out of college was in Minneapolis. I moved there in the fall (now I'm from Chi-Town) it started snowing in Oct. I damn near had a breakdown... I hurried up and got the hell out of dodge. But everyones different if you don't have an issues with winter lasting 8 1/2 months.

Oh my word! Minneapolis is a great place to live. Sure it is insanely cold here. Yes, we have freaking artic like weather. But that is the beauty of Minnesota. Nothing like waking up on a cold December morning (Heck, November sometimes). Or going outside your house and seeing that your car is covered with 5-6 feet of snow, that is if you can find your car.

Come on and pay us a visit. Minneapolis is nice.

ya, sure. you betcha!

as long as you drink much beer and apple shots, you will probably be okay. Plus you do have the Mall of America eek Oooooh! And otherwise you can....Well there's....

Aw fuck it. The only nice thing I can say about Minnesota is I'm glad I only had to be there for 4 years. wink Oh and food on a stick. My NYer sensibilities are still trying to digest that one....literally!

I've been to Minneapolis several times now. I loved it. It was clean and people were polite. But, I'm from New York City and outside of Boston my whole life. We're looking at the sub urbs south east of the cities. What are they going to do with a smart ass Puerto Rican?

wow. you must have tried hard to be bored. lol

The local music scene is awesome, we are second only to NYC in the amount of theatre seats per capita, there are museums galore (art, science, whatever), the lakes the lakes the lakes (it's simply beautiful here, even in the city), there are AMAZING restaurants/food/chefs/YUM representing all cuisines and nationalities, in the summer there is a free festival SOMEwhere every single weekend, and it probably has live music, plenty of art galleries and a decent art scene... I just don't know how someone could think there wasn't much to do. lol I often suffer from overload knowing there's SO MUCH to do.
