Yeah, someone I know got that, and all it did was give him trouble...he returned it.

"It's so pretty! In fact, of all the Prince sites, this set-up and theme looks very nice, and loads fast.

If flash were faster, then I wouldn't mind it so much, but for those with less powerful connections, and/or computers...flash isn't a good option."

Mbox will be shipping with Pro Tools LE 5.2 software, featuring DigiStudio online collaboration capabilities. Within this virtual studio environment, Pro Tools users can collaborate on sessions right over the Internet without leaving the Pro Tools application. Users can share everything from audio and MIDI tracks to plug-in settings to automation data. At the end of the day, Mbox makes an excellent production tool for those who love to travel… as well as those who don’t.

And why would they think it was funny? It's the truth.

I guess it just goes to show that folks like to go behind the backs of others to say things - instead of telling it to their face!

Strangely enough, Bill Gates DOES use a Mac... I found it very funny, but you can actually download documents that he has prepared in Office for the Mac... Office stores information about itself in documents. Someone examined some of Gates' documents and found that they were "made on a Mac." biggrin

IceNice...dude, when Jobs held that PowerBook G4 up, I peepee'd.

That is one of the awesomest laptops ever. The kicker of all laptop asses! Running the awesomest OS ever too Mac OS X Jaguar!

Then there's the smaller 12" version... which perfect for those truly on the go!

17" PowerBook G4:

~=~=~=~

12" PowerBook G4:

I personally have a TiBook, and beleive me...I am sooo glad that I left the desktops...with their big clunky monitors. It was such an eyesore and a pain in the back when moving it around if I needed to.

I haven't looked back. Why?

Because it's wonderful to just put in your bag and go. Your computer is portable, small, lightweight, the coolness off taking it to a computer lab or coffee shop/internet café and surfing wirelessly...how your living environment becomes less about the computer...need to write a letter on your couch or bed? Well there you go!

Need to make music on the road, at a friends house?...BAM! It's your sampler and it's your synth (Native Instruments and Reason 2), it's your recorder (ProTools 6) and it's your composer (MOTU Digital Performer 3)!!

And to tell you the truth, I really agree with Jobs. Desktops will be a thing of the past in a few years. Computer themselves will be over shadowed by the OS and applications.

Forget the slots...that's what I think is holding back Apple from phasing out the big Macs. The legacy cards...

Everything's via firewire now. And since it's all moving up with even faster FireWire connections...buh bye QuickSilver Macs.

Mark my words, 19" PowerBook G5 in a year or two. 10" PowerBook G4 with portrait screen capabilities. Think extremes. Bigger and Smaller. iMacs will be semi-portable and flatter too.

Once you go flat, you never go back!

Yeah, man... I would REALLY like to get one of those... If ProTools worked without PCI cards, I would!

Alas, I must continue with my Quicksilver and OS 9.

I think we will see a Firewire based ProTools set up for the new PB. If Steve says that the future...that's the future and companies follow him. He's the king.

ANnd ProTools 6 which runs on OSX was announced to be coming out in a few months or sooner!

I'm still waiting for DP3 for OS X!

I might very well ditch the desktop if Digidesign gets their shit straight... ProTools on a Mac laptop running OS X would be heaven!

The laptop? Nope... it would be cool though, if there wasn't a power-drain problem with two processors... not to mention the increased heat.

It's truly lovely. Pity it's an Apple though - as much as I have always loved Apple's stuff, it just isn't practical for me to own one nowadays, since all my work stuff needs Windows and x86 Linux. The last Mac I had was an old iMac DV and it just gathered dust - I can't justify owning one, no matter how cool they are. Dammit!

As regards laptops though... my biggest regret was buying an ultra-slim Sony Vaio - what a piece of shit. I was totally seduced by the shinyness, what an idiot. With the amount of cash I wasted on the laptop, peripherals, and repair costs I could have bought some slim Dell with a decent warranty for a change and have enough change left over to buy an iBook for my wife.

Have you seen the new jacket they are selling, which has controls on the sleeve to control your iPod mp3 player? It's very cool! (and nerdy)

I just built a new PC today... I was forced into it because my old overclocked monstrosity died just as my wife was about to submit her five-year-mother of a research thesis. Spanky Pentium 4 (2.53ghz), half a gig of 333Mhz DDR memory, a Geforce 4 with 128MB of video memory (!) and a nice CDRW that writes at 32x. It doesn't look pretty, and it's a noisy bastard, but it is a nippy little machine.
