Im about 5"7,i kinda wish i was shorter and i hate being the height i am. I hear a lot about how people wish they were taller but i dont understand wats so good about it.

That has never made any sense to me.

I'm 5"7 and I have no problem with it.

Im 6'1 and I'm interested in someone who is 5'9.

I'm 5'5 and already a BRICKHOUSE I don't need to be tall.

5'7" is NOT tall. I'm assuming you're a woman? Can you walk into pretty much any store and know you'll be able to find pants long enough for you? I can't, at 6'.

There are advantages, I guess- being able to see well at concerts, being able to gain a little weight without it really showing...but mostly it's a pain in the ass.

Good things about being tall

Seeing over people's heads
Being able to reach high stuff
Getting noticed in a crowd
Faster walking

The "not as good" things about being tall

Lack of leg room in cars, planes, buses, etc.
Always being in the back of the group picture
Being asked to move during concerts, live shows, movies, etc.
The ongoing quest for long pants and sleeves
Tallness = big feet (more than likely) = shoe store size discrimination!
Feeling like an Amazon in heeled shoes
The constant "Whoa, you should play basketball" comment
Low hanging things hitting the head and low ceilings (especially in basements!)
Guys who have a problem with taller women

I'm just ever so slightly shy of 6ft 4 and I'm glad for it. Sometimes I think I'd like to be maybe 2 inches shorter but I'm thinking in the long run as I get older, and even if I get lazy, I'll never really get fat. My father's 6 ft 5 and he looks pretty slim even now in his 60's.

5'7" for a guy is not tall - at least not in the US. I'm not sure it's even average. I'm 5'8" but I wish I were 5'10". (I'm a girl.) Don't get me wrong, I like being above average height for a girl, but I'd like to be a couple inches taller. I love that I can see over most everyone on the subway/bus, I don't need a step-stool to reach the top shelf in my kitchen or at the grocery store. Also, if someone tries to give me a hard time and they're shorter than me, I'm like . I do not get intimidated by people shorter than me.


And I always wear heels.

5'4" here.

I'm 6'5" and have the same problem. I wear size 36 length pants and even those are hard to find. These days, Walmart carries Levi jeans in their stores at very low prices. I can't wear those though because I've never even seen any lengths in there taller than 32. And when places like Sears or JC Penny's have a sale on Levi's or just pants in general, they may have them on sale for around $30 but never have a length longer than 34. I usually end up having to go to Dillards and pay $45 to $50 for the same pants. It's very frustrating. Even those pants that aren't stitched at the bottom aren't long enough a lot of the times. It's gotten a little easier now though with the internet. I order from Lands End sometimes and have found some good prices. I'm just glad I'm not taller than a 36 length because you are right, a 36 is very hard to find and I have never seen anything taller than a 36 in the stores....ever.

As for gaining weight, that's where you're wrong. I'm like Luther Vandross, I've been big and I've been small and big again and small again...up and down like a yo-yo. It's always much easier to find taller sizes when I'm big because of the "Big and Tall" shops because most of them have the longer lengths when you get into size 40 and 42 waists. But when I'm down to a size 36 waist, it is damn near impossible to find a length longer than 34 and you can't go to the Big and Tall shops because their waist sizes don't start until a size 40.

You can look over people in a crowd. Plus, you can see on top of people's heads. Being tall helps when playing certain sports.

Then again, it's difficult to hide when you're tall. It's not easy to get lost in a crowd. And it's very difficult to do gymnastics when you're tall. And it's difficult to spin 'round and 'round.

So as Forrest Gump would say, "Being tall is what being tall does."

Is he large? Check out my earlier post, I added another paragraph pertaining to being large. I shop at Casual Male when I'm large and have lots of luck. When I'm smaller though, I have to resort to ordering. It almost makes me want to give up and be large all the time.

I'm only 5'2", but I'm not proportioned for petite sizes, so I get a lot of things altered.
As a high school teacher, most of the kids tower over me- girls and boys.
I usually wear 3"-4" heels...


My sister (with the really tall fiance) is only 5'0". She hits him at his chest.

I'm 5'3" and I looove tall men!
Something about a tall man over me just excites me!
