This comics artist clearly is a fan of Purple Rain.

Compare. It's pretty clear.

Wow, that's so gay! Batman's showing bulge, Robin's collapsed on his stomach, and the looks on their faces is postcoital for sure. Who drew this?

The artist is Frank Quitely. It's the revamp of the Batman series where Dick Grayson has become Batman and Robin is the illegitimate child of Bruce Wayne and Talia Al Ghul. Meanwhile, Bruce Wayne has been teleported million years into the past but no one knows it and it hasn't been explored yet by DC Comics.

The villain here is named 'The Flamingo', no less.

See, this is why I've started to hate DC. They're a mess. I didn't read Batman R.I.P., but didn't Batman (Bruce Wayne) die in that? And then he died in Final Crisis for sure. But now he's a million years in the past? So confused.

Also, what about the old Robin? Did he assume a new identity?

Frank Quitely is a great artist, but this is definitely a Purple Rain Meets Gay Porn montage! biggrin

interestingly enough, the writer of RIP, Final Crisis and this new series is Grant Morrison and yes, it is rather confusing. I read something somewhere that cleared it up a little.
The old Robin (Tim Drake) quit being Robin after Dick Grayson chose Damian Wayne to his new sidekick and become Red Robin.....with the costume of an older Robin from an alternate universe. He's refuse to believe that Bruce Wayne is dead and is looking for him around the world.

Red Robin:

ya i guess it is a mess even though I am enjoying this new Batman and Robin series by Morrison.

Red Robin? Well, that's a mess. Does he serve all-you-can-eat French fries while he fights crime? biggrin

Grant Morrison is just the worst thing to happen to comics ever.

Frank Quitely tends to do that. lol This was his design for a new Wolverine costume:

I really liked his run on X-Men from a few years ago coincidentally (or not) with artist Frank Quitely.

You can always count on Morrison to do something different when he takes over a book. nod

To be a fan could or could not be true. However, the Purple Rain album is rather iconic w/ Prince on the motorbike. So the image in itself could be the muse rather than a fan animator making an homage to Prince. Either way, Prince was on his mind, most likely, when this was drawn.

I agree. His recent run on Batman was crap, so I ain't buying his new Batman And Robin series. shake

I'd be more interested in seeing All-Star Batman & Robin, The Boy Wonder by Frank Miller and Jim Lee getting concluded. biggrin
