June7 said: Yeah, I just found that out myself... apparently she has a big musical background! same goes 4 Richard Gere, I hear he was outstanding as well, and also comes from a musical background...
How was Rene Z? I heard she was the only one in the cast without a music background... Rene was very good, it's just that her part isn't as saucy as Catherine's. Gere I wasn't so crazy about - he's great when acting but I wish he'd been more "cool" when singing, he's a bit too "happy" for me. But that's just me - he got the part so somebody liked what he was doing Great direction, kickass choreography in some of the numbers, so glad I saw it IN THE THEATER...

My trips to the cinema go in waves
some movies I HAVE to see in the theater...like 'Gangs Of New York'...a movie that grand scale just wouldn't have the same impact at home... beyond that, i do tend to see at least one movie a month...a healthy mix of 'indie' flicks and big budget...the best indie flick I've seen recently was "Personal Velocity"...I still can't decide if I really liked "Adaptation" although it made me laugh and just as I am with cds, I'm a sucker for DVDs and buy a lot of them and am a sucker for "special edition" sets... hmmmph, I just like spending all my money I guess...

I used to go to the movies just about every weekend.
These days...I'm lucky if I go once or twice a year. I have to be selective, it's expensive these days! Like fine dining if you eat there! Good thing is, it's very special when I do go. I'm usually alone, and have the full experience. I hardly buy DVD's, but I would conclude that I wait for the DVD.

going out to the movies is a rip off. In Canada, it costs $11.00 for one adult ticket. Most of the time, the movies are just so,so. I usually see about 3-4 movies a year and they are not the hyped up ones. I go for the more obscure. There is only one movie that I went to the theatre to see during the past year that I really loved. It's a foreign film called "Y tu mama Tambien". It was excellent and hilarious and sexy all at the same time. It beat the hell out of anything that came from hollywood, except for maybe "lord of the rings - the two towers". Most of the time, I don't waste my money on going out to the movies. I would rather spend it on dinner out or some new cd's.
