It just means people are fucking assholes.
And also, people expect pretty women to be high-maintenance bitches who only choose men who are rich or douchebaggy/studly/overly metrosexual. Mon is not only gorgeous, but down to earth and smart - which is evident in her choice of a perfectly handsome, non-flashy, non-douchebaggy husband. People don't always expect that. | |

Wow, I like this way of looking at it. Thanks Erin. And I agree totally about Mon - she is down to earth, which I love. She's actually tomboyish in character, and hard as nails when she needs to be, but can be pretty and feminine too. 
If you're out in Bangkok though, especially around touristy areas, your woman's looking pretty and you're a westerner, there will also be some people thinking certain things that aren't true. | |

It depends.
If it's a westerner, it's a compliment at your expense. But a compliment about your wife, where she is the focus--not so much an insult to you. If it's a Thai person making the statement, it means that you're wife is too pretty for you. | |
