Converting AVI vido to MPEG?

Any know how to do this, help please? I got this Mike Epps special, and it's on AVI and I burned it to my DVD and no picture comes out.

Um, I have a MacBookPro, but this is what I did...

Do you have QuickTime Player? Open the AVI file in there.
Under "File", click on "Export".
On the bottom, there is a drop-down menu. One of the choices is "Movie to MPEG-4". Choose that.
Then you can save it in that format.

It should work.
