It sucks and I have had to miss really important things at school and now I'm way behind.

I don't know if the last few times I've gotten the flu it's been a much worse strain or is it just that I'm getting older cause it's killing me! It hit me like a ton a bricks. It's not something I can just push through. Knocked me on my ass.

I went to the dr on Monday and had a test done. Noah was sick last week with similar symptoms BUT he got the swine flu vaccination, so to be honest I don't think I got it from him. There is an outbreak at my school I'm hearing so that's probably where I got it. Makes sense with all of us working in the hospital.

No, I live with my mom so I've quarantined myself in my room and I'm wearing a mask and gloves. She is helping them with everything. She's being really great.

In the meantime, see if there's anyone who can get to a Whole Foods store, Vitamin Shoppe, or other health food/vitamin store in your area and buy you some elderberry extract. It is sold under the name Sambucol or Sambucus or simply elderberry extract, and you take a teaspoon of it three times a day while you are ill and it's supposed to lessen the severity of the flu symptoms. I took some for a really bad cold a year ago, and I got over it by the next day. It's been tested for seasonal flu and works really well, so it should work with swine flu/H1N1.

I've never had a flu shot in my adult life, unless they gave me one in the Navy bootcamp, which I doubt (although we had a poke everywhere you can imagine). None of us ever got the flu after.

I have no plans to get one either.

I haven't bothered since living on my own though. I have gotten the flu since then but it doesn't bother me much. It makes me wonder all the times I heard people call in sick to work saying they had the flu, but came back in to work 3 days later. Obviously they only had colds. I was knocked flat for close to 3 weeks when I had it (and ensuing sinus infection )
