Hmm... what is it about Prince that gives him the "power" to make people not really think for themselves? You don't see other artists having a following that would compare to Prince's "fams"... changing their eating habits because of the artist, thinking the artist can do no wrong, etc..

I'm very serious when asking this question.

That's is so not true, Anyways if that wasn't the case you wouldn't see so many little girls trying 2 be like britney spears, or Chritina aguelira at that matter. You can turn 2 mtv right now and see so many girls trying 2 dress like them, act like them talk like them, it's all in the same fashion if you ask me,

That is very true, you are right. But they eventually grow out of it as they get older. Perhaps it is because Prince has been around for so long.

It is actually because Prince is about 1.54 BILLION times more talented than them and he has put out some of the best music in the last 20 years, whereas Brittney and company are not talented and have not put out great music.

Actually, I have never been near a trailer park... and what is particularly "Texan" about the artists that were mentioned?

Most Texans are REALLY into gypsy jazz, industrial noise, punk and alternative rock.

EDIT: also...

Joe Pass played with MANY black artists...
Jaco was in Weather Report and played with TONS of black artists...
The Dead Kennedys had a black drummer...
Michael Bland (black) played with Paul Westerberg...

You amuse me.

There are probably only a handfull of "Prince-followers".
It is the nature of people to want to have heroes...
For some it is movie stars, sports heroes, or religious figures.
People like to think of themselves as unique, but the truth
is that there is very little "new" or "different".

Now the fact that this is a site for Prince dictates that
a majority of the people coming here at least admire the
man or his music.
He does not exert the influence that some think...
The Kingdom Halls are not filling up with Prince Fams, so
evidently fams are still thinking for themselves in this
area.

As far as changing eating habit: Some may have decided to
look into the artist's diet...and may have found it appealing
after having read about the advantages of such, but the vast
majority of fams are still meat eaters.

As far as the "Prince can do no wrong" attitude, this has
hardly been the attitude here. Contrarily, some are so
angry with him, they are threatening to destroy all their
albums!!! smile

But I will admit that he is charismatic, and for the most
part, his music is slammin'.

I will also admit that some of Prince's fans have an unhealthy
attatchment to him...IMHO

Other artists don't have same kide of following?
What about Elvis?
So...how's everybody doing? smile

Yes, Elvis is another one. People were the same way towards him.

lol at the unhealthy attachment towards him... it is rather sad to even think about how some people live for the man.

Thanks for answering... hope you had a Happy New Year! smile

How long will it be until the term "Ice Nine " is used instead of "can you only find humour in insulting those that don' think the same as you"

it could even be a verb..."Look at the dude, doing an Ice Niner"

Hopefully as soon as possible!

Great thread! I secretly voted five stars like, five times! smile

But didn't check the damn spelling!
