I love old names for children. I guess I'm just odd like that. Agnes and Mabel and Vera and such.

I have recently learned that MY name is old. sad People don't name their kids Carrie anymore. Any place you go that has stupid stuff with kid's names on it, they NEVER have "Carrie" anymore. Not even under a different spelling.

Who in the hell would name their kid Hash?

It would be funny if their last name was something like "Browne" tho giggle

Nikademus sounds rather an olden days name like Nostradamus or Erasmus biggrin

Nikademus was my grandfather's middle name. I love the idea of giving a child that for a middle name too. It's such a beautiful name. mushy

Alas, I think I will have to settle for naming a pet after him someday. lol

My niece is named Mary. However, I come from an Irish-Catholic background (although the generation before me essentially left the Church so we are not religious). I can think of at least 6 Marys in my family, and all of them are referred to with their middle names as well (Mary-Claire, Mary-Lourdes, etc).

Here's the interesting thing about that.....some of those old school names, that were more popular in the 50's or 60's, seem to be making a come back. I think people FINALLY (thank GOD) got tired of the blond and brunette plethora of Britney's, Amber's, Megan's (Meagan, Mehgan, Meaghan, Meighain, etc), Tiffany's, etc etc. I love that even stars are naming their kids simple names like Jack or whatever. Listen, I'm the first person to know about rare names. I've only met 2 or 3 other people named Ernest in my life, and I'm 41, although I don't think many people are going to use the name Ernest anytime soon.

Although I vowed never to have kids, part of me wants to have a son to carry the name on. I'm the fourth in line with my name, my great-grandfather being the first to have it, then my granddad, then my father, and now me. I always joked that "the fourth" was Greek for "The Last", but now I kind of want Ernest V.

When I was in college, there was a girl in my sorority who was one of several sisters from an Irish-Catholic family. All of the girls in the family were named Mary - Mary Sue, Mary Beth, etc.

I thought that was some weird shit. disbelief
