Movie: The Straight Story

Great film Apples. It requires patience but it is worth it!

It totally is. smile It was such a surprise and good to see the range of David Lynch's work.

It surprised me, as it was quite unlike anything he has done before. I found it touching and enjoyable to watch.

I hope you had a great christmas and New year! big grin

Album: "Wild Tchoupitoulas" by Wild Tchoupitoulas. New Orleans grooves that may just put the "fun" back in2 "funky" 4 u. Short but sweet.

Book: "Stalingrad" by Antony Beever. Both highly readable & thoroughly researched, Stalingrad provides an insight in2 the horrific reality of the siege & its consequences 4 the combatants, rather than merely presenting another dry analysis of the military strategy behind the battle. The critics don't seem 2 like his writing style, which baffles me, as it plays a huge part in my recommendation.

Movie: "Jean de Florette"/"Manon des Sources" , a well-directed adaptation of Marcel Pagnol's novel coupled with its equally impressive sequel. Claude Berri offers us a fantastic, emotionally involving tale of human tragedy, superbly acted by a stellar cast. They don't make 'em like this in Hollywood nowadays. Simply unmissable!

Oh, ok then... "Young Frankenstein" is hilarious ; Marty Feldman would make a hen laugh & the scene with Gene Hackman as the blind man STILL has me in knots!
