For those who don't like the modern cd's and want the good ole vinyl experience biggrin

http://www.izotope.com/pr...dio/vinyl/

im at work so cant down load it whats it like?

The ultimate lo-fi weapon, iZotope Vinyl uses 64-bit processing and advanced filtering, modeling and resampling to create authentic "vinyl" simulation, as if the audio was a record being played on a record player.

You have complete control over the following parameters:

Mechanical Noise: The amount of turntable motor rumble and noise
Electrical Noise: Internally generated electrical noise, such as 60 Hz grounding hum
Control how worn out the record is, from brand new to played a few thousand times
Dust: The amount of dust on the record
Scratch: The number and depth of scratches on the record
Warp: The amount of warping and the warp shape for the record - from no warp to the edges totally melted and warped
Record Player Year: The year of the record player - from current linear tracking turntables to 1930 phonographs
Stereo/Mono: Switch between stereo and mono output
Input and Output Gain: Set the gain in and out of the effect with visual level meter feedback

And it's freeware.

I can't believe somebody invented this! It's crazy! And cool.

You can add VST controls to Audacity. I'm gonna try this out.

I've been FLACified too. Couldn't stand the sound of low-quality mp3's and use FLAC in 5.1 where I've taken from DVD-A or similar.

I just couldn't understand being told that there really wasn't a difference when the sound speaks for itself. nod

Then again I wince when I buy a CD and hear that it's been mixed with next to no dynamics. Other people just dance lol

I was wondering if there was a site you
could go to so you could convert 192 bit rate
or higher MP3's into 128 bit rate MP3's.

You can compress a file to a lower bitrate, but you'll lose quality.

Once you encode a file to a lower bitrate, you can NOT encode it back up again and get better quality. Meaning, if you have a 128k MP3, and think "I wish this sounded better", and decide to encode it to 192 or 256 or something, it won't sound like 192 or 256. The compression forever changes the file, so even if you reencode it at 192, it'll still sound like it's original 128k bitrate.

More compression = lower bitrate = smaller file size = less quality

I have the MGMT CD and find it so compressed it's unlistenable to my ears sad

adobe audition/cool edit pro can easily convert it in like 10 sec also. i agree with vinyl sounding warming and everything like that...but for some (most) people convenience counts too, just because the quality of ipods or mp3s aint (the best) great, it wont stop people from getting em. lol
