How Long does it take to Obtain a POLICE CERTIFICATE (in the USA)?

How long does it take to obtain a police certificate in the USA?

I need to either produce one of those or my police record (criminal record).
I'm not sure how long that takes.

Does anyone know how long it takes or what the process even is?

Before any of you assholes start wonderin' n shit, I don't
have a criminal record of any kind nor am I in trouble.

I just need to obtain these documents as part of a job
requirement and obtaining a work visa. hug

In Dade County you have to get it from the main police Hq, I don't know if it's the same in Hillsborough. I'd check with the Sheriff's office.

Ask the state where you have lived and find how much it would cost to expedite it. It's not free.

What about getting an FBI certificate?

I think an FBI certificate would suffice. They just need to make sure I don't have a criminal record.

There you have it cool

Now contact the FBI office in your state and find out how apply for one.

I think it's easier in the UK and Australia to get your police certificates as you can do it online?

In the US we can obtain our criminal records online, but they are private companies and not official government agencies. For official police certificates, there isn't an online resource in the USA that I know of.

In California you have to go through the Sheriff's Dept. You get fingerprints done so that they can run them.

In Florida I don't know, here it's pretty much automatic, I think. They run prints through AFIS and if there are no hits then you're good.

Yes, but the local city hall would not do it.
Each state seems to be different.
However, the department headquarters (an hour away) would indeed do it.
It took 15 minutes. If I had mailed the application in, it would have taken 2 weeks falloff

Finally done! woot!
