Pets at work? What are your thoughts on bringing pets to the office (and letting them roam around)? The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

Ex-Moderator | I really really really really wish there were cats in my office. It would make the workplace infinitely nicer.
So when I open my own business, there will be shopkitties. I don’t care who’s allergic. |

"Pets" No
Service animals - Yes | |

In my industry we do use animals for certain reasons eg. customs, quarantine and protective services (feds) use beagles and labs to sniff out drugs etc. Apart from that IMO absolutely no 'pets' at work. They do not belong in the work force with their owners.

a few people bring their little dogs in to work, everybody loves it. I have no problem w/ it, as long as it's not a big dog roaming. & the little ones are always w/ their owners or tucked away in an office. Wouldn't mind cats since they tend to be quiet, as long as the smell of the litter box doesn't waft around It brightens the day for a lot of people

Hell no! Unless you work in a pound, pets have NO business in the workplace.

our leopard gecko, Gator, sits on the counter in our office...he's a great conversation piece when customers come in...alot of people are pretty pissed when they have to deal with us, so it's helped to subdue more than a handful of folks...

No shit?!?! My girls have a Leopard Gecko named G-Spice who, as soon as I stop orging, will be lunching on some tasty crickets... A working class Hero is something to be ~ Lennon

A colleague of mine brings her Alsatian with her to the office. It's very well educated, doesn't roam - but stinks like hell Really bad dog smell.
And at 5 in the morning... I'm rather sensitive. But she's been around way longer than me and no one else minds. So I gotta accept that one. Chose the furthest desk away from it though. "Can't keep my eyes from the circling skies -

Three people here have dogs and bring them in. The dogs are quiet and don't smell; but I just think it's weird that they are here. The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. my dog used to go to work with me every day. sometimes he still does, he absolutely loves it and no one seems to mind. they all like him a lot and he's quiet. won't go up to anyone unless they call him or are coming over to play with him. sometimes he'll sit like in the above picture for a few hours and just stare at me while i'm at work and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

Mr.Gator looks beautiful and I´m sure you all take good care of him but I bet he´d feel a bit happier if he had more space and a bit more than a stone and some sand. Is that just his workplace terrarium or is that where he stays all the time? Give the poor guy more space, a UV lamp, and maybe throw in some dried roots or stones. He looks very healthy though. He looks very healthy though. since they are a nocturnal breed, Leopard Geckos do not require UV light...he has a heater under one side of his terraium, and a red heat lamp that sits atop the terrarium for the colder months to regulate body heat(red because the red light does not disrupt their nocturnal pattern)...as for the size of his home, he used to live in a 20 gallon terraium with climbing nets, and more rocks...he still chose to spend 100% of his time on & under the rock you see in the pics...their natural habitats are the deserts of Pakistan, northern India, and Afghanistan; so rocks and sand are the norm for this breed...so, atleast to me, it made no sense to keep him in a larger environment when he was perfectly happy with the small amount of real estate HE chose...I guess I could have made his home more aesthetically pleasing for people to look at, but instead I gave the poor guy what he seemed to enjoy the most... I love that he's calm enough to just sit there & watch you When I take the family dog to work, she'll beg me for attention the first hour then chill out w/ her toys for the rest of the day. I'd take her more often if she wasn't so afraid of all things unfamiliar Just makes me happy having her there w/ me . [Edited 10/20/09 11:16am]

cute! I'm ok aslong as they're behind glass or caged. I worked in a chinese/pizza place with a large fish tank which was cool aslong as the fish weren't dead. No one wants to eat with dead fish floating next to their plate There was another place(movie rental store) in town here with a monkey swinging around on the roof which was so uncalled for [Edited 10/20/09 19:19pm] 12/05/2011

If you want a pet then get a fish I just started working this week (part-time) at a vet's office. It's great, and I enjoy it. The one thing I hate about it is the dogs always seem to have accidents in our office. I don't know if it's because they're nervous or what. But I've only worked there two days so far, and we have had about 3 or 4 accidents that we had to clean up. It goes with the territory of working with animals, I guess. RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.
