Ur favorite HORROR films?

Being the time of the month, ive decided to make this thread. Im a movie lover, especially when it comes to horror. What are sum films that scared u so bad when u were a kid or still do to this day? These scared me- Nightmare on elm street,Phantasm,Halloween, and Silent night deadly night. Another film that gave me nightmares, although not a horror film,is the movie TOMMY about the deaf and blind boy being tortured. That was a sick and stupid movie.

To me, there is a difference between HORROR and SLASHER.
I get so annoyed at movies where they think that "scary" is some psycho cutting people up. confused
I like movies that "F" with your mind, so you sit there like omg when they're over. biggrin
"The Omen" still freaks me out, and I'm not sure why. nod

Your lies, they cut me.
Now your words don't mean a thing.
I don't give a damn if you ever loved me..."

DAMN! Another way we are alike! I hate slasher films, people killing each other isnt scary just sickening, but a good demon posession or a true haunting story is AWESOME! I still have probs watching the exorcist, and i dont scare easily at all!

I agree! I'm not a fan of blatant slasher films where the gore is the main event neutral
If you will, so will I

But seriously....

Trilogy of Terror

Tourist Trap

Trick or Treat (1986)

Any of the early Friday the 13th, or Nightmare on Elm Street movies. After 3 parts, they all got stupid, although 4 and 5 of Nightmare is watchable.

To me, Fatal Attraction is a true horror movie. The suspense is awesome in that movie. A lot of people would call it a psycho thriller, but whatever.

I love The Omen, and The Omen 3. Cujo, Carrie, Rosemary's Baby, It's Alive, The Exorcist. All great horror movies.

The latest version of "horror films" (SAW, etc.) do not scare me. Films where people are constantly being tortured alive do nothing for me. That also includes those films where the people are stranded and some random stranger picks them up and then the terror begins...BLAH

I do like the slasher films, especially the earlier ones. I agree with those above about the haunting and demon possession films. Those are the best and most scariest because alot of the stories are true and haunting and demon possession are real. After watching the rerelease of the Exorcist a few years ago, I had to sleep with my hallway light on for a week!

yup and I shall go with my usual response.....The Thing.
An absolutely amazing film with fantastic special effects...I hope they never remake it with CGI mad

nod Slasher=boring. I just saw Paranormal Activity, and although I found myself dozing off a few times, it left more to your imagination and some of the scenes really "worked."

I liked:

El orfanato (The Orphanage)

The Others

And for a really creepy psychological movie...

The original..not the remake...

And even though I don't like all the slasher crap...I do love this movie! I have all the sequels too, even though they weren't as good.

I still kept playing though. Haven't had it out in a while. And I also agree that they should not try to remake it using CGI. disbelief

yea the saw films are not scary at all, but they're good in that they fuck with your subconscious. they channel that fear of waking up in an unfamiliar place and not knowing what is going to happen next. films like touristas and the cube series are also like this. its that fear of being kidnapped + killed

suprisingly the exorcist never scared me lol. i feel like there is something wrong with me cuz i swear the first time i saw it i laughed at a lot of parts and i was watching it with my mom (big horror fiend) and she was just like what is wrong with you! lol..rosemaries baby never scared me either, but both are AMAZING films

I practically have Poltergeist 1 memorized. lol
I liked 2, but 3... bored

I couldn't get into "The Mist" because I had read it.

BTW- the scariest BOOK I ever read is a toss-up between "Salem's Lot" and "The Amitville Horror".
SL had me believing there really COULD be vampires! eek
AH had me sleeping with the light on, looking over my shoulder, and just generally flipping out. When I saw the movie, I was like, confused

I actually dig Hannibal as well as a true horror film. I was never a Silence of the Lambs fan per se. But I really liked Hannibal and Red Dragon. (For a grittier version of the Red Dragon story, find Manhunter from 1986 with Brian Cox as Hannibal Lecter.)

The Serpent and the Rainbow is a good horror film. We watched it a lot in the Navy right after it came out.

My all time favorite is to watch "The Exorcist" around Halloween time, and "The Shining", but not because they were scary, I like the Exorcist because it's just so evil. I like watching "The Shining" because it's just so hilarious. Other than that, prefer watching some older, independent released horror films since they were much more graphic and scarier than these pathetic mainstream horror films that Hollywood has been releasing in recent years.

Salem's Lot

One of the all-time scariest horror films that I've ever seen, ranked it right behind The Exorcist & Poltergeist
