I do a lot of recording, writing songs on mine. Got Skype account 2 months ago paying $2.95 a month for unlimited calls Canada/US. Here's the link for more info http://www.skype.com/getconnected/. Apples apps are amazing just amazing, anything you can think of or whatever suits your interest... they seem to have it. Love listening to the different NPR stations too. They kicked homeboy Steve Cushing's "Blues Before Sunrise" off of Chicago NPR 91.5 and he ended up having go to some NPR college station located in the wilderness. I'm glad I can hear his show again. you're calling phones, right? calling a computer would be free? Yes, land lines and cells and free Skype-to-Skype calls via computer anywhere in the world. Plus you can add more services to your plan if you need. I'm sorry who am I to tell what to choose. I didn't like the iPhone service plan with AT&T, my gripe it may not be yours. If you like the added features of camara/video and also need a mobile phone or a phone period the iPhone may suit your needs. As someone mentioned the iTouch and Skype you need a wifi hotspot. The internet can only be accessed on the iTouch if the server is not passworded or if you know the password to any locked server.

It's been awhile since I bought an iPod, but the iPod program on my iPhone is the best iPod program I've ever seen.
I'd go with an iPhone, even if it was just for music.

No. ...but if you feel compelled, check out some other brands - Apple isn't the only manufacturer (nor the best) for products like this.

I listen to books while I fall asleep I use my iPod to watch porn. That's a cool novelty. Can iPhones send/receive multimedia messages yet? [Edited 10/16/09 8:47am]

[Edited 10/16/09 8:47am] remember how they initially tried to sell us on computers? It was stuff like "look at these charts & graphs! You can do your home finances!!" And we never really used our computers after the first month. Finally someone pixilated a woman and the rest is history... My Legacy

I had a creative zen which was cheap to buy, but was a real pain in the ass use with my mac. I couldn't make playlists or anything without borrowing someone else's PC to do it
