It means he doesn't have arched feet.
He has perfect depth perception. He's not color blind. He's above 5"4 It also qualifies him for certain flight jobs (refueling, scientific work, and of course flying). He still can't fly a plane for the Air Force (or Army) without a four year bachelor's degree and a high GPA. In the Army he can fly copters if he has a 2 year degree. He would need to be a commissioned officer, in his case he can do two routes.. Apply for the Air Force Academy (a four year college), in which case if he passes the school (it's very tough), he's almost guaranteed a flying job. Or he can join Officer Training School (very tough too), and in a few short months, be eligible to fly though obtaining a flying job is not as easy going through OTS--there's a strong bias for cadets. He needs to scare at least 80 on his Asvab to pursue any type of flying job--it's not easy, and the jobs are often not open when you apply--I scored an 87 and still didn't get a flying job (by flying job I mean a job that allowed me to work on a plane--not fly a plane. I was an enlisted Air man--not an officer).

Day by Day I guess ... he is AFROTC through his college and I think they are going to pick him up on scholarship (?)

At least it's an option for him. He has plenty of options. In my opinion the Air Force is the best branch if he aspires for a civilian career later. They have more jobs that translate to civilian equivalents. Is he absolutely sure he wants to do this? I was in for 8 years and it was some of the best years of my life. I had so much fun, met so many great souls (Blake, Tim, Doreen, etc. from my facebook are friends I made in my early 20s from the Air Force who remain my friends today). But I've known guys to go in and get miserably depressed. It's not for everyone. You have to get used to being away from home---like, far, far away. And if you're going to be infantry or something like that (which by his asvab score I doubt he'll get), you'll be in the line of fire.
